"Sullivan’s Landscaping was a nightmare to deal with and absolutely the worst part of our major home renovation in Rehoboth Beach. What started out well working with Jim Stone on a design quickly soured during the installation. The installation crew did not listen to our requests on how to plant the dogwood trees, though that hardly matters now as the trees are dying and will need to be replaced (which we will be using a different company to do). The original holly trees and laurels that were installed died and had to be replaced. The drip line irrigation that was installed was done so poorly that we had to engage another company and pay over $1,200 to have it setup to correctly zone the yard. We reached out multiple times regarding landscape lighting work and that department never responded so we went with another company. When issues arose, Jim refused to respond to texts, emails, or phone calls. Dealing with Cat, the office manager, was frustrating. We had to escalate issues to the owner of the company, who simply apologized for his company not meeting expectations rather than offering a meaningful solution. Based on our experience, I would never recommend using Sullivan’s for even the smallest project."
"Was a customer for 4-years and my advice … even if you are desperate, DO NOT do business with this company unless you like shoddy work, lack of responsiveness to customer communication, or any attempt to resolve customer satisfaction. Here’s the complete project account via email communication after repeated phone calls with no response. Only communication - open invoices and now collection agency mail. Sent: Monday, January 9, 2023 3:09 PM Hi Jim, Happy New Year to you too! I wish I could say I was over the moon about the service Sullivan’s provided, but the process was painful even now. It took many months and constant phone calls to complete it; we lost the entire summer and most of the fall to have real plants. I bought artificial flowers in October since the large planters smelled of rotting plants. See the photos below. The beautiful plants initially planted in the pots withered due to no water integration (the original reason for Sullivan’s service). Once remedied, the planters then became a mosquito-invested cesspool due to overwatering. The Sullivan’s team didn’t even act on fixing the problem after receiving many invoice collection calls. It took the team who shut off the lawn integration (winterization) to take action and fix it mid-Fall. So where are we payment? I’ve already paid $2,065.00 ($1,347.50 on May 3 and $717.50 on Aug 18) for the signed proposal amount of $2,065.00. From what I understand, there are two outstanding invoiced - #8273 ($555.00) and #8836 ($781.23), which total $1,272.50; not sure how the $1,968.00 outstanding balance is calculated. I recall you and I spoke after the installation, and it was mentioned the irrigation water lines were not included in the proposal. Being a good customer, I understood the oversight and agreed to the added charge, invoice #8836—I held payment on #8836 until the work was completed to my satisfaction. I still won’t know how satisfying the large planter irrigation system will work until Spring/Summer, when watering is key. Now for the next head-scratcher, I have no idea why I am invoiced for items listed on #8273. That should have been part of the original proposal for filling the pots – again, the entire reason for the job. Adding the additional plants to the existing flower bed was the add-on. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication and action to ensure a positive customer experience. The pattern of lack of communication continues … Via email, received Sullivan’s 2023 contract for landscaping. Sullivan’s has been my home’s landscaper since 2019 and would like to continue with the relationship. However, before I sign, we need to resolve this outstanding issue as outlined below. Please let me know how you would like to handle this? Sent: Monday, April 3, 2023 11:45 AM Jim, I will resolve this the way Sullivans has communicated with me on my numerous phone calls and emails on the outstanding issue. I will ignore your invoices. Sending me collection emails like this is not responding to an issue, nor it is creating a positive customer service to resolve an issue. I fully paid Sullivans for the contractual amount. All add-on invoices due to the inability to properly quote a job and satisfactorily deliver it to the customer within an appropriate duration will not be paid. I attempted to mutually resolve this via emails to you in January 2023 and March 2023. No response was received until now. Needless to say, Sullivans services for 2023 are terminated."
"Over the past year and a half, Sullivan’s has done a great deal of work for us. We will continue to have a long term relationship with them. The work is excellent. The workers are professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We have worked quite a bit with Jim Stone, Chris R. and Jason in landscaping and they do a phenomenal job! "Our entire neighborhood (Sterling crossing) has been complaining for over a year, about the job that sullivans has done since they took over. Spasado used to do it and our grounds were incredible. Our neighborhood used to be GORGEOUS and meticulously maintained when the other company did our landscaping. Each home owner pays a hefty fee monthly for the landscaping to be maintained. They are paid to weed and feed,yet our entire sidewalks and streets are filled. These pictures are ONE day after they "cut" our grasses. They basically just smash down more grass than they actually cut. I'm not one to bash a company. Ever. But many of us have tried for months to get this company to do a better job. Even a decent job. And they just don't. The grass is never, ever, cut evenly. They hardly edge anywhere. They let weeds grow in the driveways and sidewalks,and in the grass itself. It's pretty disheartening. We pay 250 a month in here. Sposado was night and day better. I strongly suggest against using this company for any sort of ongoing treatment or upkeep."
"Beautiful flowers/ trees, tons of outdoor necessities! The workers here are very knowledge and kind ! Picked up a few flowers to take back home to NJ & they are thriving ! They knew exactly what I needed for where the plants were going ! Great place !"
