Reviews of Extended Stay America - Philadelphia - Airport - Tinicum Blvd
"I see all the other bed reviews and that's not what I experienced. The room was clean. The staff was super friendly. There was a great spot to walk the dog outside. They already have the dog mess bags ready for you. Even the maintenance guys were friendly to talk to. There's a Ruby Tuesday's nearby to get food. I would stay here again."
"Employees were really nice and accommodating but I was out of my room for a bit and when I came back in within 5 min of turning off the lights I saw and killed 3 roaches and 2 other bugs. They really need to spray and clean better. Also both the side door locks are broken so you can't open with your key and need fixed"
"Would not recommend. They are severely understaffed and it was apparent from jump. Had to wait 40 minutes for the staff to arrive to check me in along with another guest waiting. There were signs on the front doors about a recent fire that tripped the sprinkler system and caused some damage. Of course we were assigned to that floor, even though it really did not seem like a place guests should be staying... especially not at full price. We received no prior notice of this issue. Had I known, I would have canceled and found a new hotel, but with it being Thanksgiving weekend there was no option to book somewhere else at the time of check in. The carpets in the 4th floor hallway were ripped up and the floor was covered with crudely taped down paper, the ceiling tiles were removed and wiring exposed, and it seemed only the emergency lights were working. It was dark, dirty, and smelled bad. Once we arrived in our room, it did not get much better. The room also had a bad odor and a lingering smell of cigarette smoke, even though it was supposed to be nonsmoking. The carpets were filthy and the entire room did not feel clean enough. The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything happening in the hallway and neighboring rooms, including a lot of slamming doors which naturally made our dogs bark. We left the room for maybe 30 minutes to go pick up dinner and in that time we received a call from the front desk that our dogs were barking. This is a pet friendly hotel... dogs bark. I understand that incessant barking is annoying and I wouldn't want to hear it either but it was not past the designated quiet hours yet, and maybe your pet friendly rooms should be more well insulated? And don't put them on the top floor? We checked out within 3 hours of our arrival. No thank you."
"DO NOT STAY HERE. I've stayed at Extended Stays other locations and had great experiences... This one was extremely disappointing. Immediately on entering the lobby it was small, felt a but run down and smelt faintly of smoke. No staff at the front desk, no staff anywhere in sight. We waited about 10-15+ minutes for staff to show up and check us in, keep in mind this was around 430pm (normal working hours). Staff was not friendly or welcoming. The hallways were under construction, floors ripped up, also smelt like smoke. Water stains on ceilings. Ceiling boards missing with wires hanging out of them. Entering the room was even more disappointing. The wall had an obvious large patch repair. Two lamps didn't even have light bulbs in them and I had to ask front desk to install light bulbs! Tables/desk seemed oddly placed. Dresser and night stand has so much surface damage, likely water damage. Bathroom counter and sink with what looks like burn marks. Less than half a roll of toilet paper in bathroom and no extra rolls. There was a live fly in the room flying around. I am not one to complain and usually satisfied with any simple, clean room. I was about to just accept the condition of the room but then it got worse. I decided to take a peak into the dresser drawers and found pieces of debris, hair and the drawers weren't even on their tracks, thus would fall if opened! I also saw the bathtub faucet dripping, so I went to turn it off... which is how I discovered that it was actually broken, no running water, just a slow drip. Appparently, the property was under renovation due to a recent fire but there was no mention of this on the booking reservation which. We only found out by a notice on the hotel front door on arrival. Definitely not as pictured on website. Definitely not as advertised. Unless they completely removate the rooms DO NOT STAY HERE! To make things worse it seemed like there was never any hotel staff at the front desk or lobby area. We went down to the lobby about 4 different times and there was nobody each time. No desk bell/button either. So you're just left there, waiting endlessly. Again, this was between 5pm and 6:30 pm. If all the rooms were like this, then honestly would be worth ~$30 motel price. I've stayed in motels nicer than this. The only pros about the room was clean bed, clean kitchenette, and TV. After about 1.5 hours since arrival, we decided to contact Expedia since we booked through them and they had amazing customer service. They rebooked us at a nearby hotel for no extra charge."
"The worst customer service experience possible. Booked a room days in advance and learned that even though I had a reservation there were no available rooms. The purpose of having a reservation is to place a room on hold for your stay, and no one else can be booked. I was never notified, and that’s common decency. When I talked with the front desk agent she had an attitude, didn’t explain the situation, and just wanted to go sit down in the office on the clock away from the customers. I had to also call the service line and get them to confirm the issue, instead of just canceling the reservation because surely I wouldn’t have been eligible for a refund. In addition because I had no notice from the hotel I lost time and money from a shared ride. It was filthy, and in disarray. Don’t decide to stay here or to do business with them you’ll regret it. Update: A generic response is pathetic. I have no faith in the management team because it’s clear that management is incompetent. A bottom line expectation is to honor bookings, this wasn’t a mistake or the staff missing the mark. It was a fundamental failure that indicates the management’s inability to facilitate the operations of a hotel. The reviews are consistent in sharing negative experiences, and accurately attest to why this hotel should have new management or be closed. The hotel also had a fire in one of the room recently so they had major water damage because the water sprinklers went off. There were shop fans blowing on the carpet, the entire first floor looked a messed. Finally read the signs, that was put up at the front desk because the staff didn’t want to interact with customers. “I do not have no rooms to move you to, if you are not please, we can give you a full refund” and “We have sold out all of our rooms even if you had a reservation”. It’s impossible to sell out of rooms when customers have already had reservations for said rooms. A lot of dysfunction is going on at this hotel."
