"Beautiful iconic hotel and gorgeous dining room. Food good to very good not great. This is a French brasserie but they have some work to do. Mussels delish! French onion soup good not great. Poached lobster had strong tarragon flavor. You do not have to worry about forgetting that you are in Wilmington and not France. No seafood fork served with mussels. Pommes frites undercooked. Supposed to come in a cone and a silver holder. Wait staff very nice but unfamiliar with the menu. Lamb dish was good. $15 dollars to park for diners. Valet. We came hoping to have the duck Provencal and branzino shown on website menu but wasn't on current menu. Some pluses are that it is a lovely atmosphere not crowded and noisy like many trendy places on sat nights. I saw all age groups....not only the under 35 set. You can really relax and talk and you ate not sitting super close to others."
"Very nice experience! We came here during the Christmas Eve afternoon. An iconic hotel and this restaurant as a part of it. A very rich history of this hotel, which was built in 1913, a lot of celebraties were here. I've heard that Grace Kelly was proposed in this hotel. The food was great, service as well (Jacky), and the guy at the front desk (Jack) left a very nice impression. Music was not loud, clean space, superb restrooms. There is a beutiful atmosphere and ambient at Le Cavalier. We will come back!"
"The ambience of the restaurant was amazing. It’s decadent and overwhelming but in a way that is beautiful. The issue was everything else. While friendly, the wait staff seemed preoccupied. While everyone else seemed to receive a bread basket while waiting to order, we didn’t receive one. The hummus was good but the burger was tasteless mushy and strange. The Caesar salad had soft squishy lettuce and way too much dressing that was very salty. The apps and burger completely turned me off from ordering more. Then our check wasn’t in a billfold it was just folded and handed to me. While not a big deal, for a place with these prices , it just seemed “unprofessional”. The food is not worth it but it’s nice enough for a drink and hummus."
"Impeccable dining room -- feels like stepping into the past. Nice wine list, classic French menu choices. The service was friendly. My server was slammed with needy people requiring their bills be split umpteen ways in time for the symphony or something. And she handled it well. The French onion soup was rich and the broth was classic. I have never in my life complained about too much cheese but this was ... A LOT of cheese. The Branzino was very crispy and the accompanying vegetables were well prepared. The shrimp was all a bit high on the salt. Would definitely go back. For the quality of the food, the prices were right on. I found cocktail prices high."
"Beautiful restaurant with amazing ambiance. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable. The food was very good, as well. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars from me is because everything is overpriced. We spent a lot of money here, and if it weren't for the bread basket, we would have left a little bit hungry. It's a great place to go for a special occasion, but not for a regular date night dinner."
