La Tolteca - Wilmington,DE

"This visit was good until it was not.   Visited the restaurant with my family.  For a started, I ordered Sopa de Mariscos.  This soup was to include shrimp, mussels, crab, and calamari.  However, my soup only included Shrimp, Fish, and scallops.   Despite of the soup not including everything, it was still the star of my visit.  For the main course, I ordered  Simpati Especial. This entree was absolutely TERRIBLE. It had so much oil that it could not be enjoyed.  I was hoping that if I took it home, that I could salvage it but due to the overabundance of oil, it could not be saved and had to be trashed.  At the end of our meal, I asked the waiter for the dessert menu.  His response was one of disgust.  This behavior intensified a s my brother-in-law requested carrier box for his entree and appetizer.  The behavior exhibited by the waiter was unmerited and completely Ruin what would have been a decent visit.   We didn't understand why he was so disrespectful as we ask barely anything of him the entire time we were there and thought I should have complained about the Nasty Simpati Especial."

"1st time at La Tolteca with family for Sunday dinner. Nice atmosphere with Spanish music playing, nice location and parking lot, presentation of food looked good and tasted good except for grand daughter's chicken tenders and fries (over cooked and hard). Family enjoyed ourselves until my sister asked for a dessert menu. Our waiter Vladimir hesitated and then told us only 2 items on menu and told her what they were. He did not offer us dessert and seemed irritated when we asked for the dessert menu. He also seemed irritated when my husband asked for 2 containers (one for the appetizer and one for his entree). We were a party of 8 (7 adults, 1 child) so 20% was automatically added on bill not 18% How you going to add your own tip to 20%? Overall the service was ok but I will not be back. Disappointed for the disrespect from Vladimir. We were nothing but respectful."

"What a wonderful experience. Went here after Church with a group of 9. Not only was the server fantastic , but he separated the bill for us all. Gratuity was included in the bill. The portions are generous. The food was delicious. Most of the people took home leftovers because of the size of portions. We have found another great restaurant."

"I am visiting the area and my mom and I went here after the gym. Food was good chips, salsa, and guacamole for starters, then I had a mango chicken salad and my mom had a burrito bowl but the next day I had bags underneath my eyes, which means it was over salted, and the chicken was definitely over salted. Those mangoes were fresh, but it was very salty. I could not finish the chicken. I also had an innocent margarita and my mom had wine. Mostly everything was fine except my mom got silver ware that wasn’t completely washed, and they seemed short staffed."

"Edited: I have clearly expressed over the call about how we were offended during our visit and if still the management see that as unsubstantiated one, then good luck. A big good bye to La Tolteca. First thing the waiters service is very bad. The waiter is not interested in talking so we were not comfortable ordering. This is the worst ever experienced Mexican restaurant. The waiter looks like racist his name is Jonathan. Fajitas chicken with shrimp in this 95% chicken and 5% shrimp. Chicken is very hard and chewy. Desert churos is very bad its frozen and very hard to cut into pieces. Overall bad food and worse waiter. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone."
