The Marshallton Steakhouse

"We had wanted to dine here for months. And had looked forward our anniversary dinner tonight. First impression arriving was the parking lot was a skating rink. Had been plowed, but obviously not salted or sanded. 2nd impression was the overflowing cigarette butts in the ashtrays, that flanked the entrance door. Upon entering, we were greeted, and though we had reservations (that stated it was our anniversary) she didn't know how to check the book and just seated us. Both soups on menu (wedding soup & crab bisque) were not available. Substitute was beef barley and broccoli/cheese. The broccoli cheese wife ordered and was very good. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, which was ok, shrimp were large. However, in a normal higher end restaurant, the shrimp are de-veined. These were not. Wife's drink advertised as having muddled raspberry. There was no muddled raspberry.I ordered a dirty martini. And it was a standard martini with olives. Main course: Wife's Steak Diane , filet tips in brandy sauce was good, but only luke warm. I had the Delmonico steak (it is labeled as a steak house...) It was very fatty and grissley. Ordered medium temp and came out as a solid rare. Woman's bathroom trash was overflowing and unkept. Men's bathroom was just satisfactory. Server was disinterested and non attentive. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I will when it is fitting and deserved."

"I went for the first time for a baby shower. I'm hooked. The food and atmosphere is beyond amazing. If you haven't please go. Have your next event in one of their beautiful rooms. Wade & Tyler are the best bartenders. Thank you"

"Although it was beautiful & service was great I received burnt Brussels sprouts, I’d rather have had my daughters chicken fingers and fries. I had the seafood collage and the scallops were over cooked, the shrimp was spongy, and the fish wasn’t seasoned, the only good thing I had was the appetizer which was spanikopita. Although the entrees weren’t up to par with the prices the dessert were heavenly."

"First of all, finding a Mother's Day brunch buffet the week before Mother's Day can prove to be quite challenging. Kudos for having the brunch buffet every weekend until 3:30. Having never even heard of this place, I'll have to admit I was a little skeptical making reservations. But wow did they exceed my expectations. The omelet station guy was funny and made great recommendations. The pancake guy made a flawless flip. Having a well-done prime rib option was a nice bonus. But where they really started to shine was in their over-the-top service. The kids wanted chocolate milk, so they dug out some Hershey syrup and made some. My son has a peanut allergy, which makes dessert selections a little problematic. The chef came out and pointed to a few dishes that were likely safe. But then he went back into the kitchen and personally saw to an allergen-safe plate of warm chocolate cake, mousse, and one of the largest chocolate-covered strawberries you'll ever see."
