"Tried this restaurant for the first time. I made 2 orders: jerk chicken, plantain & mac and Stew chicken, black rice & mac. The jerk chicken was soo good! Meat fell right off the bone. The mac & cheese was to die for. However, I don’t recommend the black rice- It was tough. Don’t know if it was because the restaurant was closing within the hour. Nevertheless, I recommend others to try & will be back to again."
"I had seen this eatery on Google Maps recently, the former Celestial Kitchen and it's been on my list of places to try. Pearl of the Antilles is similar to Celestina's Panama style Caribbean cooking at CK and she even helped with some of the prepping in the early days of Pearl. So instead of going to Market Street in downtown Wilmington for dinner this evening to try out one of the many cool-up scale spots in the city, I didn't hesitate to turn around and try Richard and Judith's small business eatery. They both come from parents who are chefs and now Judith, who was born in Haiti, shares that title. She even shared some traditional Haitian music to set the mood. When I first walked in the door, she instantly greeted me with a pleasant smile and I thought she was just a front of the house person. I ordered my usual anytime I've had Caribbean food, brown stew chicken. Then she politely stood up from her seat and said, " I'll make that for you now. " I found out she's not only the front of the house person, she's co-owner who she shares with Richard and she's also the chef. Usually in any mom and pop establishment, you have to remember you're not in a fast food or chain restaurant where they don't always have chefs, they have microwave ovens to merely heat up the food as it was packaged, frozen and stored ice cold. Then much sooner than I anticipated, my order was up and piping hot. I also had steam cabbage, carrots and white rice for my sides. From the first bite to the last, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Judith periodically checked on me as I ate it there at one of the two tables, Pearl has only room for four chairs in the small space. She brings big flavors to her entrees and it does not disappoint. Ask any of her regulars who come in for takeout or read the Google reviews and set your GPS to find this hidden gem in the Bear, Delaware Crossing at Christiana development off of Route 7."
"My husband and I decided to order from here. We love Caribbean food and this place did not disappoint. The portions were big. The flavors were on point. Come and support this place!!!"
