Days Hotel West Chester- Brandywine Valley

"There's a reason when you go to Google "Days Hotel West Chester PA," the second option has "bed bugs" next to it. After the second night of my stay in room 330, I woke up to a bed bug, full of blood, under my pillow around. Instinctively, I scooped it up with a plastic knife and put it into a paper cup and brought it to the front desk immediately. The person working at the front desk, Manny, didn't seem phased as I explained what I found. He didn't bother to look in the cup. He simply told me that his manager would be there in 10-15 minutes and that he would be up in our room in around that time. No apology was issued. Almost a whole hour later, around 8:30 in the morning, no one had come to our room. As I was leaving for a rehearsal, I passed the front desk and told Manny that we had been waiting for almost an hour and no one had been up to the room yet. He told me he would send his manager up. I'm not sure how long it took, but eventually a manager (didn't get the name) came to the room and asked what the problem was. My friend gave him the cup with the bug to show him. He responded in telling my friends to collect their belongings because he was going to move us to another room. Still no apologies or anything. He then proceeds to hand the cup with the bug back to my friend and leaves. We moved to a room down the hall (340), and for the following few nights I had no issue with bugs BUT I believe only because I doused the room every night in a spray that would keep the bugs away. Once I got home today I immediately washed all my clothing. I'm praying I didn't bring any new friends home with me. Save yourself the trouble and stay in one of the nicer hotels in the immediate area."

"Hey man if you're looking to spend the night in the West Chester area this place isn't too shabby. Sure the room might've smelled like smoke in a non-smoking room, but that's no fault of the hotel staff, just the vapid person who smoked in a non-smoking room. Sure the HDTV in the room had a lesser picture than an old analog set, but it had ESPN. Also I never understood why somebody would put a full length mirror anywhere near a toilet. Check in and out was terribly quick and easy, too. Quit being so picky and just stay here; it's a nice hotel, dawg."

"My fiancee and I were going to have our wedding reception here. We booked the Brandywine Ballroom in March of 2014 and we were promised renovations to the carpet, wallpaper, ceiling tiles, chandeliers, and windows. The room was very outdated and needed a LOT of TLC. A couple weeks ago, we did a surprise visit to check on renovations (which we were promised by the GM would be completed by November of 2014) and nothing was done. The doors to the room were chipped, there was duct tape holding a cushion on the leather couch together, and the hallways were dirty. THe only renovation they claimed to have finished was the carpet, which had many pulls and looked old. The Assistant GM felt bad, I could tell, because I was in complete shock and disgust when we reviewed the state of the room. However, he assured us that there were no further renovations that would be done to the room. Not only did they break a verbal contract and not fulfill the promises they gave, but they are not giving our deposit back. This hotel breached the contract and therefore the "non-refundable" is no longer applicable. However, they are holding onto that money. We are a hard-working young couple and I have never felt more insulted or cheated by an establishment like I feel with Days Hotel of West Chester. I would rather stay in a 30-degree home in winter during a week-long power outage than give these people any more money. I'm truly disgusted by the way they are running this business and cheating people out of everything they can. I hope corporate sees this review. Unrelated to the reception, the rooms are dirty and the bathrooms often have mold in the ceiling."

"My work requires me to spend lengthy stays in hotels. When I arrived in West Chester, it was getting dark and I wanted a place that had a bar and restaurant, so I wouldn't have to drive in a strange town. I checked in the Days Inn with the idea of finding something more permanent in the morning. That was in November 2013. I finally checked out in December 2014. The ambiance in the bar was very nice and the food was great. They also had a very good breakfast menu, but I understand this has been changed to a continental type breakfast. I found the entire staff - desk, management, food service, housekeeping and maintenance - to be helpful and friendly. The bar staff, Debbie, Allen and Rodney, were always courteous and efficient, and I looked forward to my evenings there. It was also easy to develop friendships with other long term guests and local patrons. The hotel is older, but comfortable, and on-going upgrades to carpeting, etc. were in progress. Management always seemed to take my convenience in mind when they scheduled repairs and other work. Frankly, for the price and the convenience of the food and beverage on site, I don't feel that I could have had a better deal. If I end up in West Chester again, I plan to stay at the Days Inn."

"My experience at Days Inn was less than expected. There was no complimentary breakfast. Although they had a restaurant, they did not serve breakfast until 7:00am, which is a problem when you have to leave before 7:00am. Also when driving, leaving the hotel in the morning was very difficult because of all the traffic on S. High St. Also, when ask the room attendant for extra wash clothes, it seem to be a problem. The only good experience I had was with the young gentleman at the front desk, and Mr. Dale, the maintenance man."
