About the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center
Located at 1800 Orleans Street in Baltimore, Maryland, the Johns Hopkins Children's Center is a leading pediatric medical institution with a rich history dating back to its founding in 1912. With over 92,000 patient visits and nearly 9,000 admissions annually, the center offers one of the most comprehensive pediatric programs in the country.
Despite recent transportation challenges due to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, the center continues to provide top-notch care to children and families in need. Masks are strongly recommended but not required in clinical locations, as the downward trend in respiratory viruses in Maryland allows for more flexibility.
The center's dedicated physicians and researchers are committed to providing safe, high-quality medical care to each patient. Recent studies have highlighted the impact of the pandemic on mental health disparities among youth, as well as innovative treatments for conditions such as asthma and food allergies.
Support from generous donors and sponsors allows the center to maintain its status as a place of hope and compassion, delivering world-class care to children and families in need. Ranked #10 on U.S. News & World Report's Best Children's Hospitals list, the Johns Hopkins Children's Center continues to lead the way in pediatric research and innovation.
Whether you are a healthcare professional seeking training or a family in need of care for your child, the Johns Hopkins Children's Center is dedicated to exploring every medical possibility, teaching, and always moving forward to ensure the best outcomes for all patients.

Reviews of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center
"If your child has special needs or complex medical conditions, I strongly advise against bringing them to the PICU here. The doctors lacked empathy and failed my child in every aspect. They even discussed end-of-life care when they made mistakes with her treatment and medication, and they lied to me about her care plan while refusing to communicate properly with my husband and me. During critical events, the nurses and doctors would give conflicting information. Despite my requests to check for pulmonary hypertension, a common complication for my daughter's condition, she suffered here for over a month without a proper diagnosis. She was paralyzed and received no hope or empathy from the doctors or staff (except for RN Nikki and the social worker). After extensive research and desperation, we transferred her to CHOP in Philly, where she made an incredible recovery in just five days. Before the life-saving flight to CHOP, a doctor yelled at me in my child's room, insisting that transferring her was a mistake and that she would die regardless. It was clear they had given up on my baby girl. After five days at the new hospital, we saw a huge turnaround. The doctors finally diagnosed and treated her for pulmonary hypertension. Finally, after being sedated and paralyzed for over a month, I got to see my baby's eyes open. Now that she's home and happy, I urge you to always advocate for your children. If something doesn't seem right, speak up immediately and don't delay – and please, do not bring them to this hospital. I want to acknowledge that the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at this hospital is amazing. The care provided in the NICU is vastly different from the care in the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).""
"My son was born a few weeks ago with type one heart disease and had to be transferred here almost immediately from being born with a heart condition, the staff here is amazing and honestly better than anywhere one taken any of my children."
"Emma on the 8th floor for the NICU was an absolute gem. The whole NICU team, neurologists, cardiologist, etc did an amazing job with taking care of my newborn daughter. They took a scary situation and turned it into nothing but miracles throughout our process. We couldn't be any more thankful for these group of people. God bless. You will always be appreciated by us!"
"Hi thank you so much for the service here my 1 year old came in the ambulance I called them because his breathing was not normal in the night. He was checked and given medication and he is doing great now. I thought it was asthma but it was only croup. Nurses were coming in constantly and also doctors. We were checked on constantly and offered water or blanket. We came in and didn’t wait to he seen he was given care immediately upon arrival and we were able to leave quickly. I have never experienced an er visit to be fast and caring. The nurses and doctors were so nice to us so I just want to say thank you so much. Thanks so much for the first responders and the ambulance. Great place very clean great nurses and doctors. I was skeptical because this is located in Baltimore city. Thanks so much"
"My daughter had a brain tumor and the hospital staff made her feel as comfortable as possible, horrible reason to be there but they did the best to make it a better experience."
