"I was admitted to the Er on January 23 2024 and was admitted to inpatient same day. I had extreme stomach pain and blood in my stool and vomit. After being admitted I was told my room would be removed from the ER to “upstairs” three days being there that never happened. When I met Dr Elmi. He said I should never been admitted and tried to send me home. After I refused they put a camera down my throat and found an ulcer that they thought I didn’t have. (Good thing I stayed) they also found something they thought was cancerous. They had not followed up and when I call I can’t get anyone to tell me the results of my biopsy. The food was horrible. And I wasnt allowed to shower or attend to any hygiene. 3 days no shower. Even tho I was supposed to be moved to another room. That never happened. This hospital has gone down hill. They make it difficult to get any information on your own records. If I could give zero stars I would. I will never go back here and neither should you. They will make you go through an online portal that is difficult to navigate and doesn’t answer any questions. 2000 for a 2 night stay with horrible food, no shower, no information, and I had surgery. Please save yourself and do not come here. Go to west Chester medical or even saint lukes."
"If you care for your loved ones in need of emergency medical assistance, do NOT take them to Vassar EVER. This place is a joke. My nephew went in with severe stomach pains and they had him in the waiting room for over six hours last night, no room, no medical attention beyond a blood test and BLURRY ULTRA SOUND. Ended up leaving because they couldn't even be bothered. Took him to his primary care doctor the next day and they had to order another ultra sound because the one Vassar took was of such poor quality! Turns out he has appendicitis! This hospital’s negligence could’ve killed a child. Thank god for MidHudson Regional. For all the money and resources poured into this place, it’s absolutely disgusting how terrible it is! Management and staff should be ashamed of themselves."
"I had a great experience with their ER. I took my mom there since she seemed to be having some respiratory issues. The initial check in process was quick and we were called within five minutes to have her vital signs checked. Then we returned to the waiting room to be seen by the doctor. The wait was maybe 20 minutes and everyone who helped us went above and beyond. The male nurse on duty was professional and personable and the two other doctors who assisted us were amazing! They spent time with us and explained what tests they were doing and why. The ER bays are actual private rooms (not using sheets to separate patients as you normally see.) Their staff did all they could to make our experience pleasant and non-stressful and their expertise put as at ease. I highly recommend this ER! It was also helpful that we arrived in the afternoon and there were only a few other patients waiting, but I was very impressed with the way they try to expedite the registration processes and that we were seen so quickly. They were also very thorough."
"I wonder why a hospital would put so much money toward pretty pictures and high ceilings and sidewalks and gardens and Christmas decorations then have no staff, supplies or equipment to keep up with patient needs. I have been here with my mom every day since she arrived on Thursday. They bring her meals and then no one has time to feed her so she went without dinner twice. She soiled herself and two different occasions it took over an hour to clean her up. The staff is exhausted and apologetic. I don’t want apologies, I want my 92 year old mother to get better and get home. I walked through the ER one evening and people were laying on the floor because they were waiting so long. Where does the word emergency fit here? Put your money where it needs to go, fix your staffing levels, get working equipment, stock decent supplies and of course, provide patient care. People don’t go to a hospital to be on vacation, it’s usually the last resort. Treat patients with dignity and respect, they shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help and the staff shouldn’t be so overwhelmed that they can’t do their jobs well. Give staff the tools they need to do their jobs and hire quality personnel. Stop wasting money on beautifying the place, your reviews are 2.3 for a reason and that can easily be fixed spending money where it will benefit your patients."
