"I’ve loved my time here at Inspired. I have found each therapist I’ve had to be extremely professional, caring, and intentional. The way they teach DBT has stuck with me for 2 years! I’m very lucky to have found Inspired being from out of state and being able to transition very easily from my other DBT group."
"It’s so sad to leave a bad review but I would want to know too. My daughter was in the teen DBT group ((for 20+ groups) and as far as I was concerned everything was going well. 2 hours before the last session I was called by the group leader telling me he wanted to discuss my daughter’s behavior and how she was not welcome to join the “continuation” of the teen group! Wow! I had lots of questions the first being, why wouldn’t you contact me before this, why am I just hearing about this, she is 15, don’t we all work as a team!! I was just told, I should have and I’m sorry. Then I was told I was “all set with my insurance”! Ok now I get it, you wait until the last session and you are all paid up to put a bomb on my lap. My daughter was very upset and felt like she got kicked out. Well, sadly she was. Be professional, be in contact with the parents, my daughter is 15! Number one thing I learned, maybe I should have requested a mid- session review. They make you pay for all 20+ meetings even if you miss. Scam, maybe! So disappointed Inspired!"
"I can't say enough about Inspired. The people are welcoming and knowledgeable. The communication is clear, compassionate, and consistent. The therapists are outstanding. You can use what you learn from them daily. If you or someone in your family needs therapy, I 100% recommend Inspired."
"Thus far, I have had a great experience with Inspired. Taylor was extremely helpful at setting me up with paper work and scheduling. When I was uncertain of how to cancel an appointment or reschedule, she was attentive and very responsive. I have enjoyed getting to know my therapist and all of the strategies and techniques she has taught me thus far. I appreciate her time and continued patience. I appreciate all of the support she offers to help me cope with my anxiety. I would recommend this company !"
"I have mixed feelings about Inspired. I had some really incredible experiences both in individual therapy and in a virtual adult DBT group, but I also experienced some really awful treatment – mostly around being discharged (aka fired) from the agency and the things that have transpired since. PROS: Inspired has more clinicians than most agencies – all with different backgrounds, experiences and specialties. They're well-trained in DBT and are committed to finding ways to make the skills work for you. The therapist I worked with was caring, compassionate, non-judgmental and honest. We were a team (something she always reminded me of), and I never went through the hard times alone but she also made sure we took time to celebrate my wins and progress. My therapist created an open, safe space for me to talk anything on my mind when I was ready, and she never pushed me if I was uncomfortable. Her approach was very straightforward and honest, which was sometimes intimidating for me, but that tell it like it is/no BS approach is what led to tremendous growth during my time with her. Honestly, she was the type of therapist I never knew I needed. MIXED: My experience in the adult DBT group was mixed. Some weeks, we spent so much time doing individual check-ins that we only spent 5-10 minutes learning a skill. Check-ins are a great time to connect with others in the group, but I would've liked to see more time dedicated to learning and practicing skills along with reviewing the previous week's homework. The group leaders were knowledgeable, helpful and compassionate, and I loved getting to know the other group participants. CONS: Termination happens in therapy for many reasons (in my case, they felt I needed a higher level of care). At inspired, my termination –or as they call it, being "discharged from the program" – happened unexpectedly and without warning or time to find a new provider first. The session before I was fired, my therapist and I were celebrating a recovery milestone, working on a new safety plan and talking about future sessions. There was no hint or signal of any kind that termination was on the table – or that it would happen the next week (the day after getting back from vacation, no less). I wasn't given the opportunity to ask questions, and my therapist was extremely cold when delivering the news. Usually, therapists spend a little time talking through the progress you've made and try to give you some closure. That wasn't the case here. Additionally, my therapist promised to send me a copy of the safety plan we started working on since she took all the notes, but 2.5 months later, I still haven't received despite multiple emails asking for it. I also learned that all clinicians were instructed to go no-contact with me – something I was never made aware of and is extremely odd to me. It was also extremely hurtful learn about (from the police, nonetheless) since I've never done anything to deserve that kind of treatment. It's also a very non-DBT approach, according to Marsha Linehan's standards, which is ironic given that Inspired is a DBT-focused agency. CONCLUSION While I don't want to ignore all I gained from working with my therapist at Inspired, sometimes, the pain from being fired (specifically, how it was done) overshadows all that. Other days, I clearly see how much I benefitted and learned from my time at Inspired and being fired doesn't hurt so much because I know I can better handle the things life throws my way. Knowing how hard it is to find trained DBT therapists in Boston, I would still recommend Inspired to someone looking to do individual and/or group DBT. Just be cautious and know things could go from great to a disaster in a very short period of time. And if you struggle with emotion regulation, you might find your time at Inspired incredibly dysregulating and painful."
