"I provided Mr. Gurk with cleaning services every Wednesday. It was nothing short of a nightmare. He would constantly talk down to me, tell me I was his servant and I must obey his orders ( even if they weren’t on our contract ) he locked me in the basement from a latch outside of the door, and ultimately denied me payment on my last visit after I had cleaned his entire house and office. He is completely unstable, manipulative, cheap and outright a disgusting human. I wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy. STAY FAR AWAY. He also lives in total filth when I first arrived with dog urine, mold and thick layers of dust on every surface. I’ve never been so disrespected by a client in my life. He has serious mental issues and should not be in the mental health field."
"Three times he confused me with another patient citing life experiences I’ve never been through. Will take calls, see tradesmen during your appointment and then charge you for going over your time (which is 30 minutes, with him). I had an appointment when I was deeply upset, and rather than treating me as a patient, he spent the next session lecturing me about how it made him feel. Also told me that I didn’t have a disorder I clearly have (based on the DSM-5 symptoms and four self-report tests I took on my own, all with above-average results for someone with the condition). He charged my insurance company over $24k for 8 sessions, then spent a chunk of my next sessions complaining they were slow with payment. If you are faced with the option of no therapy or going to him, it would be better not to go. UPDATE: I found out the two of my main issues (the primary reason I saw him and another obvious physical issue) are both symptoms of the disorder he told me I don’t have without testing me for it. My blood relative was diagnosed with the disorder (which I told him), and I have been diagnosed with an often concurrent disorder (also disclosed). Considering suing for negligent malpractice."
"I deeply regret not taking the time to read the reviews before reaching out to him as a potential client. During our phone conversation, he was not only condescending but also thoroughly questioned me about my health insurance, which made me feel uneasy and vulnerable. When I mentioned the issues I wanted to work on, he responded with insults, calling me a "robot" and implying that I sounded like a "textbook" rather than a real person. He also insinuated that I had no idea about what I wanted to work on, despite my clear and specific explanation. Having seen many therapists in the past, I have never encountered such hostility and a complete lack of empathy from someone who is supposed to help me. I could immediately sense that he was out of touch with my needs and concerns, and it was apparent that he lacked the necessary skills to provide me with the support and guidance I was seeking. At the end of the phone call, I made it clear to him that I was no longer interested in requiring his services. His behavior left me feeling disrespected and devalued as a potential client. It was a disappointing experience, but I am grateful for having realized his unprofessionalism before committing to his services."
"Wow I wish I read reviews before I called him, I’m looking for a therapist for my daughter and he hangs up because I was driving. I have my phone connected to Bluetooth so it’s hand free which is legal in Massachusetts. Get w the times Mitchell. Clearly all he cares about is money, I’ll pass and go to someone better hopefully you retire soon."
"I was a long time (weekly) patient of Dr Gurk (2+ years) until one month I ran into an insurance mix up, I provided him with all the information he needed yet he refused to cooperate. He told me I couldn’t return until I paid him cash (I have insurance coverage, he just didn’t feel like dealing with it apparently). He started sending me bills, one with a note attached calling me names and throwing things we discussed in sessions in my face. I was horrified and disgusted by his actions. I am a young disabled woman who doesn’t have the means to pay him cash and he knows my financial situation as well as the struggles of my life. This man is rude, disrespectful and totally NOT professional! In all honesty he did provide me with many helpful tools in which I applied and found some great wisdom in the things he would say. With that being said he seems to be lead by his pockets at times, he actually encouraged me to bring my dog to sessions and then charged me extra for having my dog there."
