"My husband and I have been married over four decades. Over eight years ago we encountered a problem which we could not seem to solve on our own. A medical professional I have known for almost 19 years recommended Dr. David Lopez in Greenwich Connecticut.. At first my husband was extremely resistive…….he had never been to a therapist of any kind in his entire life. He could not see the logical or sense to “go and sit on the couch and talk to a complete stranger about one’s problems”. After a little prodding (push) my husband did agree to go. We both attended many sessions together. Dr. Lopez does encourage family members to attend. This doctor is extremely knowledgeable, patient, intuitive, and non-judgemental. If you need him by phone, you will not have to wait long for return call. Dr. Lopez also makes every effort to accommodate his patients’ schedules when arranging appointments. As most people do, before one goes to a doctor in any specialty, you look into his/her credentials and experience. Regarding the aforementioned, Dr. Lopez is on top of the list. Now approaching 2022, my husband still sees Dr. Lopez. He actually looks forward to his appointments My husband and I highly recommend Dr. David Lopez. Five stars is not enough for this doctor."

"I saw Dr.Lopez for almost 3 years when I was a child, and for about a year as a teenager. I'm 21 years old now, and doing well and in college, however not thanks to the help of Dr.Lopez. At the age of 10, Dr.Lopez had me taking 600 mg of Lithium and 80 mg of Latuda. That is completely unethical. He misdiagnosed me as having a "mood disorder" when in reality I needed comprehensive behavioral therapy, not to be heavily sedated on antipsychotic medications. I believe Dr.Lopez exploits wealthy families who have a child with mental health issues, and instead of treating the child in a productive way, he overprescribes medications and discourages family therapy or any other type of treatment. I'm writing this review in the hopes that parents who are seeking help for their child are encouraged to find a different psychiatrist. I am not against medication, in fact I take medication currently, but I am against overprescribing children on medications that are not helpful to them, and providing "therapy" that seeks more to blame the patient and doesn't provide coping skills or psychotherapy."

"I just had a terrible experience with Dr. Lopez and feel he should lose his license. I had a disagreement with him after he called me up to discuss a prescription and I got very angry with him and insisted I was right. He said I was wrong and would not give in (which was fine and his right). I then said I would ask my internist for help with the prescription we were arguing over. Well, Dr Lopez was so mad that I got angry with him, he threw me out of his practice. And without any explanation. He did this after I’d been his patient for almost two years without any problems whatsoever. So, basically, we had an argument over the phone and he got so angry that I disagreed with him that he retaliated by rejecting me and stopping my treatment abruptly without even seeing me to explain why. I only found out when I called up the next day to arrange my next appointment. I got a text back saying “your chart is closed”. That’s how I found out! I must have hurt his ego. He should have been strong enough to use the disagreement as part of my treatment which my behavior certainly was since part of my problem/ issues is anger. Instead he just gave up on me. This was incredibly unprofessional and cruel. I am reporting him to the board that oversees his group. This should not happen to anyone else. Do not go to this doctor."
