Dr. James P. Cavanagh, MD

"BE WARNED!!! Took my youngest son to go see Dr. James P Cavanagh at the offices at St Charles hospital since he has had an off and on fever since Saturday. Today was our first visit with this doctor. This is one of those doctors that looks at his computer when he talks to you, not you. No human element whatsoever. After asking me a bunch of personal questions about my life, NOT MEDICAL HISTORY, he then asked me if I had any Guns in the house. I proceeded to giggle and tell him I’m not answering that question. Without even looking at me, the man shakes his head and says very arrogantly, “I’m just trying to make sure the kids are safe.” And he just continues to shake his head in his disbelief to my answer. I want you all to keep in mind one thing. This was ALL said and happened in front of my 8 year old son. I was asked if I smoke and have guns in my house in front of my 8 year old son, and he wants to make sure my kids are safe??? Maybe I don’t want my children to know these things?! Not once was I asked what my child’s diet was, but I’m asked if I’m baring arms at my home… Hey guy , ITS NOT YOUR JOB TO MAKE SURE MY KIDS ARE SAFE!!! ITS TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE HEALTHY!!! KEEPING THEM SAFE IS MY JOB!!!!! You and your “board” really need to stop overstepping and concentrate on keeping children healthy."

"Hands down, without a doubt, Dr. Cavanagh is just the absolute best pediatrician. He is so kind and caring. He takes the time to really listen to your questions and concerns. I have never felt rushed or a bother within his office. I’ve also never had any issues with getting my kids in to see him. My kids have had some concerns come up off hours and Dr Cavanagh has been incredibly responsive. About 6 or so months ago, we were struggling with the pharmacy to get one of my children’s inhalers filled due to a shortage. The pharmacy was not being very helpful and to say we were a bit stressed out would be an understatement. Well Dr Cavanagh worked so hard to ensure we got an inhaler!! He never ever made us feel like a bother even though we had to reach out so many times over this. He is absolutely in the perfect profession and I wish I could go to him too :)"

"Dr.Cavanagh & his staff always get my son in when needed & return phone calls in a timely manner. Every visit has been pleasant. His staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable! Love this office so much"

"Dr. Cavanagh is the greatest pediatrician. Based upon word of mouth of people raving about him as the hospital pediatrician, we chose him to be our firstborn’s pediatrician. We liked that he would see her in the hospital and continue caring for her into childhood. Luckily when we called him he was just opening up his practice outside the maternity ward! Our little one was patient #1 at his practice. His staff is so kind. He’s so patient and calls to check in on the kids after a procedure. He is cautious when needed and calming at the right times - I.e. prevents you from freaking out over a fever or rash. as first time parents he helped us over a few humps. I wish he could be my doctor!"

"Dr. Cavanagh is truly a wonderful doctor. We got to know him when my son Maddox was born, he was the pediatrician on call. We had been on calls with other doctors before Maddox was born and it was no question that we wanted him to be Maddox’s doctor after his visits and exams. Amazing patience and taking time to ask questions as well as answers all my questions. I also love he is a teaching doctor, he had a med student in with him on our last appt. We are truly lucky to have him as our sons doctor!"
