"I’m surprised this school doesn’t have PA (Parents get little resources for their children) Not worth to go to this school, there are few excellent staffs but the school is poorly managed. Students and staffs deserve better schools than this one. When my child needed a Victor Stream, they told me to contact the Commission for the Blind, I did and was told they need to write a referral letter, when I came back for a referral letter was told my child’s tech instructor changed, I emailed the principal, previous and the new instructor asked who was responsible for the referral letter? ( they don’t know they need to write a referral in order to get a Victor Stream? Do they really need to tell the parents to get it on their own? Hello, is this a professional blind school? ) By the time my child got that device it was 6 months later! Again, All information you need for your child please find on your own, they don’t tell you, they don’t care. Think again before you place your child there."
"My advice as a parent is to pay attention to your child don’t let the school take over there life. The school may be right fit for some but not for all so make sure you listen to your child and how there experience is going day by day. My daughter When from from K-3 When I say she wasn’t being challenged enough academically. it seem like it’s a problem if the child talk up for themselves.so just know it’s other schools out here for our kids and my daughter is not attending this school anymore and she’s doing awesome went up to grade levels in one year."
"Good educators, friendly personal. They are committed with the community trying to make a difference with every single person/child that attends here. I am a proud mom from a NYISE student and the results are amazing! Keep the good work!"
"natural home remedies suggested by this institute cured my autism almost completely!"
"I've be going there for about seven to eight years and graduating. I think is a great school. NO ADVANCED PLACEMENT The New York Institute For Special Education (NYISE) is a great school. There's three programs schermahorn which is kids with a blindness and visually impaired from k- 12 and some kids can stay until there 21. There are a wide range of extra e extra curricular. But if you stay in the dorm your child will be introduced to new and exciting things at night. You will go on awesome trips like to see broadway show and Various trips around New York. Van Cleave is a program for kids with behavioral issues from grades k-8 and stay until 14. Readiness is a program for kids in pre-k. The teachers are really nice. The campus is very pretty and the dorm staff will make you feel at home."
