"I have been servicing my car here for 4 years now and have always been treated with professionalism, respect, and dignity. This last appointment, I worked with an employee there that I have not worked with before named Mark. He was belittling, pushy, and made me feel like I had no options. From the start of making a service appointment, to talking with him on the phone, to picking the car up he was nothing but rude. I felt like he was pushing me down a road of needing to spend more and more money and I felt like I was getting ripped off. By the end of the diagnostic, I spent $160 for him to tell me that I need to spend more money to figure it out (at least $1,250) And then it would cost even more to fix it. I had to make recommendations to HIM about how to accommodate a way to drop the car off to get the job done. His attitude, level of professionalism, and pushy mentality just lost me as a customer at A1 Toyota."
"My experience at A1 Toyota with the service department was unfortunately mostly a negative one. I bought my toyota new in 2019 from a dealership in a different state. Around the 60k mile mark I had a drivers side window glass run fail, which was covered under warranty (I bought the extended 100k mile warranty). While working in Connecticut, the passenger side window glass run failed as well. I took it to A1 toyota and had spoke to a service advisor named Stan. Stan didnt seem very happy to be at work that day. I explained the issue and told him that the passenger side exhibited the same problem that the drivers side had and after contacting my home dealership, they advised me that it was also covered under warranty. Stan however advised me that it wouldnt be covered under warranty. I asked why this one wouldnt when the drivers side was covered and he just repeated that it wouldnt be covered. At the same time i asked him if they could tighten the rear view mirror, as the screw had come loose like it has on several Camrys and Corollas. Stan said no, the only way to fix it would be to replace the adhesive on the mirror. They took the car back and verified that it was the window glass run that failed. Stan said they would order the part and to bring the car back the next morning to get it repaired. I arrived at opening and Stan once again seemed less than thrilled to be there. They took the car back and after a little while, I was called to the service area and told that the wrong window glass run had been ordered, and i would need to come back the next day to get it repaired, I made arrangements at work and brought the car back again the following day. This next day, a different advisor (Mike Fournier) greeted me and when i explained what i was doing there, he said he was confused because Stan had made no notes at all about my service. He ended up speaking to the technician that worked on my car the day prior, who told him he was familiar with my issue. He said he would get it taken care of asap. I asked him about it being covered under warranty and he said he would look into it. When i was called back to the cashier, Mr Fournier said he couldnt get ahold of toyota warranty, so i would need to pay out of pocket for this repair and then I could try contacting Toyota to get reimbursed. Mike was super nice and helpful, so I paid and went on my way. Hes the only reason i added a second star in this review. A week or so later, I got a call from someone else from A1 who left a voicemail stating that the window glass run wasnt a warranty covered part, so unfortunately I wouldnt be able to get reimbursed. This made no sense to me, so i contacted Toyota Warranty myself and after a few emails, with a copy of the Repair Order, I was mailed a check for the entire amount i paid for this service, as it is a covered part. They even showed where A1 tried to file it as warranty but it appeared that the wrong part was claimed or it was filed incorrectly, so it showed it wasnt covered. I also had a different dealership tighten the rear view mirror screw that Stan said wasnt an option."
"Editing my review.. I use to love coming there because the customer service was off the chain . Today I came in didn’t know my service would be 3 hours long so I asked for a loaner just to take my baby to the doctor and back . I was told none was available but then I heard a service rep telling another person ( white ) she have one . Okay I went to her the same rep who the customer just deviled the Tundra from and asked if she had any availability she said no ( I just heard her offer someone one and they declined ) . Went to the person who checked me in and asked he said no so I made him aware I heard about the Tundra that’s when he went to the rental section. To ask if any of available and he was told no. He then said what about the Tundra and then that rep said yes it’s available , that’s when they wanna offer it .I declined it because I got my appointment moved to 1:30 pm but it’s the fact everyone said no when there was actually one and it stared with the rep who the customer just declined it from. I don’t know why this happened but it was definitely not a good experience. So if you the manger is happy that your reps lie to customer then that’s fine with me … but she lied when she said none was available it should have been A customer just declined but all I have is a Tundra is that okay for you ?"
"I have no idea about the actual purchasing experience. I haven't bought a car from them- yet. However, in cross shopping I've been to quite a few dealerships. The sales staff here in particular are quite good. Can't quite put my finger on it but generally a cut above in friendliness and overall product knowledge. This includes the sales manager I spoke with briefly. Sitting down with the sales rep I spoke with was a pleasant experience as well. The staff at this dealership just leaves a good impression on you IMO. I keep checking back on inventory and are on my shortlist for consideration based on the experience alone. If anything, I think it's worth checking out this dealership in particular if you are in the market."
"5/5 I highly recommend A-1 Toyota of New Haven. Leo and Gary will take care of you and make sure everything is in place for a seamless car buying experience. They deliver on their promises. I truly can’t say anything but wonderful things for everyone we encountered and spoke to at A-1."
