"I started seeing Linda Beers when I was 5 years old. I could barely read, and yet she taught me all the basics of music including technique, rhythm, and pitch flawlessly using the Suzuki method as well as her own ideas. Her patience and kindness inspired me to love music like she clearly does. Even though my musical goals did not align with hers, she never stopped encouraging me to reach my dreams of becoming a fiddle player. Now, at 17, I am a recorded musician, and I plan to continue being involved in music in college. I feel like I am able to be involved in music in lots of different ways because Ms Beers taught me to learn by ear as well as sight reading, two very valuable life skills. I want to give other kids the skills and inspiration that Ms Beers gave to me, so I am honored to be working with her and her orchestra students for my senior project. I am indebted to her for giving me the gift of music, a joy which will last a lifetime."
