"This school has a very hard time managing communication and updates for families in which parents don't live together. My son's father and I do not live together and only his father ever gets communication from the school. Staff consistently fail to provide appropriate follow up to me, and I have to constantly remind them that they must also inform me, rather than just his father, of updates and parent teacher conferences, etc. Staff behavior seems to reflect a belief that my son has only one parent, his dad, which is extremely frustrating. One example is that my son's father met with teachers for a parent teacher conference. The staff subsequently assumed that my own scheduled conference -slotted at a time after the one his father had- was no longer taking place, and they thus scheduled another family in my place. I came to the school all the way from work only to find that they had completely disregarded my scheduled conference, simply because they had already met with his dad. I'm amazed that this school doesn't know how to better manage itself when it comes to dealing with parents that are separated."
