"Due to my PTSD it is very hard to get annual exams done. The Medical Assistants and Doctors are so caring and understanding regarding this. Definitely recommend them."
"My sister delivered a baby with Thameside ObGyn, so when I became pregnant I felt comfortable going there. My pregnancy ended up being far from normal. At 5 weeks pregnant, I was throwing up 8-10 times a day. My family knew something was wrong. I couldn’t walk, take a shower, tie my shoes without vomiting. I was completely bedridden. Thameside doesn’t see patients until 11 weeks. I called and explained how sick I was and they still wouldn’t see me in person. They had the nurse prescribe me medications over the phone. All for which weren’t working. I was scared for myself and for my baby. When I was finally seen, I was told that the vomiting would most likely “go away” and to tolerate it a bit longer. Dr. Russ discouraged me from taking Zofran and I was scared. I didn’t know how much more pain I could take. Ultimately she was wrong, and I threw up for the entire duration of my pregnancy. My next apt at 15 weeks, I met with Cavanagh. I can honestly say she was the only doctor that had compassion and genuinely cared for how I was doing. I was finally diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum and she encouraged me to take Zofran and anti acid medications. She tested my hydration levels which wasn’t done by any other provider. I wanted to continue to see her, but the office required me to see different providers each visit. This may be fine if you have a normal pregnancy, but I did not. Each appointment thereafter each doctor was prescribing me conflicting medications and combinations. Dr. Russ told me to take phenergan and reglan together and Dr. Marshall told me that combination can’t be taken together because it could cause me heart problems. They would consistently prescribe me inaccurate dosages needed for medication refills. Their medication management system was non-existent. At this point, I was generally concerned for my well being and I knew I was not receiving adequate care. I made a phone call to speak to Dr. Russ to see if I could have a treatment plan established. She was defensive. I said the doctors are not reviewing my medical history or notes before even walking into the exam room. I stated that the length of appointments were too short and I would like to see one doctor who knows me and we can have a treatment plan established for the remainder of my pregnancy. This was apparently too big of an ask, and she would not increase the length of my visits to be 20 mins, would not alter the frequency, or make an accommodation to see one doctor. I was told to just “get some rest”. I was completely dismissed. I can’t describe the feeling of being told “to rest” when you’re throwing up 8-10 times a day for months while trying to maintain a job. I came to the realization that I am completely on my own and I felt very alone. When I desperately needed the doctors help they were no where to be found. You realize how good your doctor is when you’re at the lowest point in your life. I wasn’t their “cookie cutter” patient and they clearly didn’t want to be bothered. They were only capable of measuring my stomach and using the fetal doppler. Not once did a doctor ask me, how are you coping with work? I was completely thrown to the waste side. At 25 weeks I knew I needed to transfer. I met with another OBGYN in Rhode Island who offered me a plan and weekly IV medication infusion therapy at the hospital. I didn’t want to suffer any longer. They decided to take the full 30 days to transfer my 6 months worth of records. My new practice had to call them multiple times for them to be compliant with moving the records. Thameside left me to suffer for another month. With Hyperemesis Gravidarum, early intervention is key to prevent the illness from progressing. I recommend this practice review the HER website for guidance on how to treat patients with HG or severe NVP. Although HG is rare, that is not an excuse for their ignorance. I would never want someone to experience what I went through which was to work with doctors with zero care or compassion for your well being."
"Dr.Elisa Girard is one of the worst doctors there. She has no sense of bedside manner and very judgmental. She would talk about her patients in the hall and we the patients could hear from the room. Terrible experience and would recommend all individuals to pick one other other great doctors there. One of the worst Doctors ever!!"
"I have never felt more heard, and acknowledged in a Dr. Office. The front desk staff are so beyond patient and catering to your needs while so friendly and nice. I have only experienced Dr. Marshall and Dr. Russ and I have been so beyond pleased. As for scheduling, they book out for annuals but when I had a problem they were able to get me right in. Super well run practice, with even better humans running it."
