Reviews of Gynecology and Obstetrics – A Women's Health Connecticut Practice
"Avoid this place at all cost . Report them to medical board. Your concerns will not be met here, you will be told it’s “normal.” Your docs will find you “non compliant” as soon as you deny any of their advice… they feel b/c they are doctors you don’t have the right to deny, and they will discontinue service with you if you deny any of their “medical advice” . I can definitely go on and on but as a FTM this place has stressed me out! Needs to be shut down . EDIT : 8/23/23 I called to make a appointment for regular check up as I had just had a visit at this facility 3/18/23, & was told I was discharged for writing this review in addition to the doctor incorrectly telling me I have GD & at the end of everything I didn’t even have it . So apparently I was non compliant for not listening to her “medical advice” ."
"All the doctors at this practice care deeply about their patients. I was in my second trimester at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. Despite the unusual circumstances, my prenatal visits were always on time and none of my prenatal care fell through the cracks. Dr. Sturrock did an amazing job delivering my son via c-section. It was my first time having a baby and it was very scary seeing my son in distress during labor, Dr. Sturrock calmly reassured me and walked me through my options. My son did well after delivery and my c-section recovery was very easy. I cannot thank Dr. Sturrock and the doctors at this practice enough for all the care they have provided me and my family over the years. I highly recommend this practice."
"I think my comment was deleted from years ago. But I’m having the same complaint as most people. This place is terrible. I needed to be seen asap after going to the emergency room and they declined my appointment due to an outstanding bill years ago. Idk why they are coming after me NOW when I’ve been there numerous times, even had a surgery with one of their doctors. To be honest, planned parenthood is way better gynecologists. I’ll continue to go there. It was silly for me to assume it’s better here due to the close proximity to Hartford Hospital."
"Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else. All the reviews that say they are focused on money and not patient care are accurate in my experience. I switched to this practice when I moved to the area and I had issues from day 1 with front end staff. They are rude and inconsiderate. I had to wait, twice, in office to schedule a follow up appt while the receptionist finished a personal phone call. The billing dept. didn't return my call for a week and then I was pestered the second I walked into my pre-natal appt about a balance. I called in to reschedule an appt and was rudely told there was no appts and nothing could be done. They made me feel like I was bothering them by asking them to check. After suffering a loss, I had some complications and wanted to schedule an appt to review with my doctor and I was turned away due to a balance on my account. I had previously setup a payment plan for the balance and was told I would have to pay 70% of my balance to schedule an Annual Exam but problem visits were okay. After being turned away, they called me back and told me they would evaluate my concerns over the phone and determine if I was eligible to schedule an appt with my doctor. I did not feel comfortable discussing my symptoms in detail with a clerk who would determine if I need medical care or not. There is no compassion for patients especially if you owe money. I will be transferring my care to a new practice that truly cares about patient care and does not discriminate due to money or medical conditions. To the practice personnel that read this, kindness goes a long way. You never know what people are going through so I offer a little advice- You are in a sensitive field dealing with Women's health. Infertility & loss are a very traumatic and emotional journey. Treat others like you would want to be treated in those situations and don't just treat them like another ticket at the counter."
"When I went for my first visit, the nurse that did my ultrasound was very dull, she wasn’t very interactive as if she just wanted to get everything over with. I didn’t really like her so I requested a new nurse. My second time I went, the nurse that called us in and didn’t even look over my file. She placed us in any room that was available, then she kept asking questions to see what my appointment was for then I heard her outside of the door saying to one of the nurses that she needed to look at my file. Very unorganized. Not to mention, the nurses kept bringing us back and forth into the waiting room. I was very annoyed at that point, I honestly just wanted to leave. I’m going to go back one last time for my next appointment to see how things are, if it’s not any better than I’ll be furthering on at a different location..."
