"At the moment my experience is not positive for different reasons but the biggest of them is that they do not show interest in solving problems without the need for complaints. I tried to resolve it with Dave the director of Beacon and Elisabeth Teller from the central office but they seem to be a bit lost on my request. And Mrs. Teller only gives me information about making a complaint within the same agency where of course I do not believe they will be objective... My baby took therapy through Beacon, the staff was friendly but the problem became worse when the months passed and the therapist did not arrive. says that was my primary concern…. I then asked my baby to be evaluated by a pathologist in his primary language, which is Spanish, but they refused to evaluate him in that language. They also say that they do not do that, they only provide an interpreter, which is very inappropriate and unethical in language evaluations. I told him, I know a bilingual pathologist, you can hire her to perform an appropriate evaluation for my baby, but you are still failing to comply with Title VI of Civil Rights. I told Beacon supervisor Dave that he could give me compensatory services for the 7 months that they saw my baby and did not attend to his primary needs but he contradicted himself a lot if he apologized many times and I appreciate it but that does not solve this institutional negligence that It happened with my baby. I asked him to evaluate me in Spanish to resolve this issue and he said yes, but then that it couldn't be done... I really felt like I wanted to help but I was lost in this process and didn't know how to handle it. I understand the least Birth 2 Three can do is take responsibility for this negligence by Beacon and find a way to evaluate my baby with a bilingual pathologist and give him compensatory therapy. Not like Dave told me, give him a clean slate with the new agency that the baby will see... putting on that new agency the responsibility that he did not assume. Let me say it more clearly, this can be interpreted as theft from Beacon of Federal funds because it provided my baby with a service for 7 months that did not cover his primary condition. At this point I don't know if he really needed OT or a visit from the Special Education teacher or if he really helped us but I do know that he needed a Speech Pathologist and one never came. Even worse, if I do not request the transfer, my baby reached 3 years old without his speech therapy service. I will fight non-stop until my baby is evaluated by a bilingual pathologist and can receive speech therapy with a bilingual therapist as is his right."
"I have been calling for a week left voice-mail and no response at all . I would rate it negative if I could. This agency is to enforce our children's providers are compliant but if u can't reach anyone then problem never solved"
"I have called 5 times at different times and NO ONE IS ANSWERING. It is 2:01pm atm and they close at 5:30pm so my question is why is no one answering the phone??? This is highly unprofessional and something should be done about it immediately. I have a job that I’m trying to get and can’t bc I need my fingerprints done but this company won’t answer their phone for further information. Smh"
"As the operator of a childcare program in CT (and having worked with the agencies of other states throughout the many years I have been in early childhood education), I have to say that I have found the CT OEC to be supportive, collaborative, informative and genuinely invested in the best interest of CT's children. Their approach with providers is to not only ensure compliance, but to serve as a resource and content expert to foster quality and success. I do not hesitate to reach out to our licensing representative to seek clarification or guidance about regulations and that is as it should be. We work together and the children in care benefit from this relationship."
