"This place is no good. It seems they have zero fraud protection. I've had accounts elsewhere ask me to authorize charges when subscriptions go up two dollars. Meanwhile this place will clear transactions from halfway across the country no problem."
"I didn't join, but a car dealership evidently uses Alden for loans, and I found out the day I was picking the vehicle up, that the dealer-ship apparently 'starts' an account in the auto buyers name so you become a member. I don't know the legalities of that but I realized as I was carefully reading the contract that I was 'agreeing to be a member' and I stated to the person at the Dealer that I 'don't like credit unions' and was told that I 'had to be e member for the loan to be approved; and I really needed the vehicle which I'd spent weeks searching for an affordable vehicle online. Early on, apparently my 2nd payment ( payments are mailed as one gets a statement about a week before the due date in the mail w/envelope ) and while I mail the payment in pronto? Apparently it was not received. Now I didn't end up with some of the 'nightmares' I've been reading about in other reviews here, rather I got a letter saying it 'hadn't been received and maybe it crossed in the mail? It wasn't 'threatening' amd I immediately called and spoke with a nice person who let me make that payment and the following months too-right over the phone, laughing that it would be NOT GOOD to get in arrears on the 2nd payment! She laughed too. That check has never been cashed so who knows where it went but almost a year later noW? The Post Office has been warning people about mailing checks? Apparently they're getting stolen? So I had no issues and Alden has a 10 day 'grace period' ( which I would never use-better to pay on time I say ) A 2nd potential issue happened when they cashed a payment for a higher amount than the actual payment which I called about and when we looked at the check, ( the written amount could possibly have been read wrong, a '3' looked like a '5'-I'd still clearly written the number portion correctly so they refunded the amount to my bank but I had to call my bank to do so ( they said they couldn't * I'd have to have it done on my end? ) Lastly? There are so many really bad sounding reviews here? That I am surprised that Alden doen't comment, correct or defend themselves? Enough said.. Over-all? A good experience.."
"I've been banking there for 68 years, need I say more ,while times have changed they've kept up with the changes, it's convenient. You can do 90% of your banking online. Never had an issue. Great loan office, safety deposit boxes, CDs savings accounts checking accounts what more can you ask for?"
"Bank is pretty decent. I've had them, for the past 25 years. My god mother was a manager. I've only ever had one bad instance with them; I was scammed out of $60 in the form of $20 increments and aldenville credit Union would not refund the $60, because it wasn't a one-time transaction of $50 or more."
"I'm very disappointed in my most recent experience with Alden Credit Union. I tried to take out my second vehicle loan with them and they were not able to accommodate my needs. There were lots of back and forth emails. They asked me if I wanted GAP insurance more than once when I had already asked for it days prior, in an email. They told me they didn't have my insurance binder when it was sent to them. They did not fully explain the process and it had been a long time since my last car loan which caused more delays and problems. Also, even though they are open until 4:00 they said they were leaving earlier, at 11:00 and the other at 1:00. I had taken the day off from my new job to get this done and I only had a ride later in the day. I was told "We serve other people other than you." HORRIBLE customer service. I finally canceled the loan and found someone else to finance me for LESS money and they had time for me. Also I had been paying on time and paying EXTRA and they still said I was on their first tier and didn't qualify for a lower rate. I asked them in an email how I could get to a higher tier and my question was ignored. I did not feel valued as a client at Alden Credit Union."
