"zero stars would be more accurate. I've spent weeks trying to find out who to talk to in provider relations but all the phone numbers available lead to automated systems that ask for patient ID numbers, no option for providers to talk to a rep. As a provider, Anthem is the absolute worst to deal with. Do not contract in network with Anthem you will receive no support and the rates are ridiculously low."
"If I could give this health insurance zero stars I would!! My mother landed in the ER with an illness that was attacking her RBC count. She was put on two different medications. They refused to cover one of the medications, because the doctor didn't fill out prior authorization before hand. I tried explaining to the representative that he did. She told me it would take 72 hours for approval...if they approve the medication !!! Are you kidding me??? What's the point of health insurance when someone is in desperate need of a medication so they don't land back in the ER with worst symptoms and a longer hospital stay!!! Why are we constantly jumping through hoops for this stuff!!! It's disgusting!!!!"
"I absolute love Anthem BCBS reps. They have always helped me with all my billing problems. They will make a call while you are on the phone to straight out any problems you may have with your billing."
"Beware auto billing, no notice is sent by mail if it fails/ so if you lose your credit card and forget about setting up auto pay again, they cancel your insurance without WARNING (which is likely illegal) Customer service told me they send nothing by mail. They did fix it after hours and hours of phone calls. Healthcare in the US is at an all time low, and is going to need more regulation because insurance companies act like sociopaths."
"They should not even get one star. My mom was in rehab for 21 days due to a visit to the hospital and the need for rehab to get strength back. She was doing well with therapy twice a day. Medicare released her too early. I appealed but it was denied. She has been home for a week now and can barely walk again due to the lack of therapy. PT visited today and agreed she should not have been released AND they need more approval for home therapy first. Disgusting!! Why do we pay for insurance. It's for their bottom line"
