"This company is trying to force me to buy a new roof out of pocket based on a mysterious "third party inspection" which was completed without my knowledge or consent. They've provided no evidence that my roof is faulty, and the contractors who actually inspected the roof in person on my request recommended I wait *years* to replace it. Homesite was also completely unwilling to negotiate project timelines or underwriting adjustments. It was an ultimatum -- their way, or the highway. Do yourself a favor and buy from a major provider with a known reputation."
"I agree with most of the reviews I've read. If I could give zero starts, I would. I recently purchased my first home and was assigned to Home Site through Progressive. A month after thinking everything was going great, I received a call from Progressive (NOT Home Site,) telling me that Home Site was cancelling my insurance in 30 days. This seems to be part of their scam, as I've seen MANY other reviews saying the same thing happened to them. I was lucky to even get 30 days it sounds. Progressive gave me an extremely vague list of things that needed to be fixed to remain insured. One of which was adding a hand rail on an open side of a 4-step porch. I purchased and had the hand rail installed. After sending the pictures, they said I needed balusters on the hand rail no more than 4 inches apart (mind you I have 3 other hand rails that they didn't say this about.) Would've been nice to know from the beginning before rushing to spend money on it. They also wanted algae removed from the roof in the middle of winter in the Midwest. Any expert in that field will tell you it is not possible to do this in the winter time. I also did not even see the inspection report until a month after it was done, limiting my ability to get the listed repairs done. When I called customer service for clarification since they are so vague (another part of their scam,) they were extremely rude to me and said they do not offer extensions even if the weather doesn't permit the needed repairs. They treated me like they wanted me to me to cancel. No worries, I was thankfully able to find insurance through a local agency and have been treated so kindly with no issues at all. Do not waste your time with these people. I am thankful I didn't stick around because it sounds like filing a claim is next to impossible with these scammers. Progressive should also be held accountable for using Home Site. Check the BBB, the reviews tell all you need to know. Run far and fast!"
"My recent experience with Homesite Insurance. I signed up for Progressive Auto/Homesite in October due to the high inflation of policy prices from Liberty Mutual for 6 years. About a week before the 60-day mark, I got an email from Progressive about my home insurance policy being canceled. After a call, I discovered it was because my roof looked too old, it is/was. I had 3 weeks to replace it before the cancellation date of 12/24. They had sent someone to review the house. I had to ask for the report, which of course didn't specify exactly what I needed to replace/fix to keep insurance. I scrambled to find quotes for a roof and got lucky with a $16,500 price for the house/garage and fast turnaround. It was replaced about a week ahead of time. I sent the roof contract to them, asked what they needed, and got nothing but a check in the mail for the remainder of the policy cost. I only got an official letter in the mail about 1.5 weeks before the cancellation. The absolute disregard for me, my family, and my home, the disregard for the other things life is throwing at me, the simple fact that I/anyone might not have cash for a new roof sitting around or be able to get it done in that time; It's enraging. It's like they straight up do not like money and just casually crush people. I struggle to put words to my feelings because it's so upsetting. Fortunately, I was able to find new insurance with the help of a broker so moved everything over. The customer service at both companies finally responded after I sent an angry email saying I was cancelling my home and auto, after the cancellation date, of course. Hopefully this can help someone steer clear of this kind of nonsense."
"If I could give no stars that’s exactly what this company deserves. Run do not walk. Waited over a month for my insurance check to arrive to have my roof repaired before the winter weather hit check came exactly one month and 4 days. I had to request another check and it was suppose to come priority within three days. It is now two weeks and nothing."
"We were assigned Homesite through our Progressive Insurance to handle our homeowners Insurance. After reading the Google reviews, I was super nervous when we realized we needed to file a claim for our roof. Turns our we needed a whole new roof. We were assigned Melody Nicholson for our claim and honestly, she was amazing! We handled most of our correspondences via email which made it much easier with my busy schedule. Everything was handled in a timely manner and we were paid out faster than I anticipated!! Hopefully we don't have to file any more claims on our home but if we did, I know we are in good hands!"
