"Wonderful and compassionate providers and support staff but **BEWARE** the negligent and unethical billing practices. Shocked to receive a bill with no warning more than 1.5 years after date-of-service. After exhaustive calls and research with insurance, hospital billing department, etc. it was discovered that there had been an unexplained 12+ month delay on W&I's end after insurance carrier had fully resolved the claim. We called W&I's billing department three months in a row and received repeated commitments that they would provide a written or verbal explanation for the internal processing delay -- despite our repeated outreach and them never making this promised communication, they saw fit to send the bill on to collections. In my line of work (also healthcare), if you make an oopsie and try to bill a client 1.5 years late for a service, you get laughed at ... A shame about the lack of accountability and lack of consistent information. Truly hoping our experience is an outlier, but what have others seen? Share your stories!"
"This past week I went into women and infant due the fact I was in preterm labor at 34 weeks thinking ok this was the best place to be. I was totally wrong in every way possible the er kept me for hours even tho I was contracting regularly and was dilated then when they finally brought me up without even telling me what the plan was they thru anesthesia doctors towards me, set up for an epidural placed an epidural ended up Hurting me I’m now suffering from issues with my spine due to that Then, to find out that my labor had stopped, and there was no reason for me to even have an epidural So that was an unnecessary procedure The doctors never communicated with each other. The only people that communicated Clearly were the nurses None of the doctors were on the same page it was a complete joke and disgrace, I am never going to that hospital ever again Nor do I recommend anyone ever give birth there"
"Waited in the ER for exactly an hr… Not one call for any patient.. however I did witness the staff having a GRAND TIME.. standing around having conversations, laughing, talking, eating candy. I even had a staff check my vitals eating a lollipop… lmao!!! Very unprofessional, and the place smelled horrible. Needless to say I left without getting seen. Luckily for me I wasn’t dying."
"I don't know why so many people say this is the best RI has to offer. If so move immediately. They messed up my child's birth not listening to my sons mother saying she's going into labor for them to be clueless then realize when she can't get the epidural any more as she's screaming in their face. Time before that I had shattered half my face and nurses had the NERVE to tell me I don't belong here because this is for people actually in need"
"I gave birth here and the experience was fine. Nurses were extremely kind and the midwife who did the delivery was outstanding. The birthing room itself was dingy and dark, but it was my first time giving birth so I didn't pay too much attention to it. Unfortunately, I did have to go to the ER on two occasions due to a miscarriage and had an awful experience. During my first visit, I was instructed to go to the ER by my doctor to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. I ended up waiting for hours to be seen, and then when it was time to get an ultrasound, they told me they had to call in a tech. The person who was supposed to call the tech in forgot, and I ended up waiting another 3 hours in a freezing ER room before being seen. No one came to check on me or tell me what was going on in the meantime; the tech herself told me what happened. The second time I went to this ER for this miscarriage, I was bleeding too much and needed to be checked again. I waited 5 hours in the ER waiting room before being seen, with so many women in the waiting facility excited and ready to give birth, and another woman who was screaming in pain due to a miscarriage (this woman was even told to calm down!!). We should not all be in the same waiting room! At least two of us were losing a child, and we had to sit for hours with women whose babies would live. I ended up leaving after my blood was drawn from the initial check in and I'd received my results, without ever making it into an ER room. I had to call a nurse from my practice who was in the building to make sure it was okay to leave. I will never go back to this hospital again."
