Connecticut Children's NICU at Hartford Hospital 80 Seymour Street, Hartford, CT 06102

"After two early miscarriages last year and a traumatic birth a month ago with a hemorrhage and three blood transfusions it was tough then knowing the day we were supposed to be discharged from the hospital that our baby boy had to go to the nicu for discoloration in his leg to make sure it was not related to a avm because of his heart murmer which now seems to be closed up. Ultrasounds came back that he does not have a avm and it’s probably a birth mark or something hematology can help with. Our baby boy is now home doing better with us but the nicu was already upsetting enough and one nurse there was very rude and practically told us we can’t hold our baby and they like it when they are just left alone to sleep. Some of the nurses made me feel like he wasn’t even our child and that they were his caretakers and that we weren’t at all. My husband and I love our baby so much and stayed in one of their family rooms most nights for the week except then I got preeclampsia and when I got discharged the nicu was rude and told us we should really go home and stay at our own home. I thought they were pushy especially after being nervous after losses and baby boy being in the nicu. I would’ve been fine going home but then some visitor went in to see another baby with the smell of Marijuana all over their clothes and that baby was right next to ours so our baby had to breath that smell in which can be hazardous to his health. I could smell it and it gave me a migraine. I am very sensitive to smells just think how ours and other babies felt. So I had to go home that night crying and worrying for our baby. I had told people in the nicu and they did nothing about it and brushed me off and told me well it happens. Well this kind of treatment is disgusting and uncalled for and could’ve put our baby at risk."

"Overcrowded and dilapidated. The current NICU is filthy and overpopulated while CT Children’s hospital raises millions of dollars for another facility. Meanwhile, the focus on current facilities and environment are entirely overlooked."

"I would give zero stars if I could. Although there are maybe a handful of decent staff this hospital overall is horrible. From security to doctors to food staff all horrible. My son spend 3 month in the Nicu. They would give him medical treatment without my permission not even tell me about it. They ignored my concerns about a wound on his head till it got very bad now he’s scarred and half bald. And they botched his circumcision and then stated that it was no longer their problem. I have never had such awful treatment and it wasn’t even for me but my poor baby! I will never go back to anything involving Hartford healthcare or Ccmc. No faith in their ability to care and their neglect to correct any wrong doings. Please go elsewhere for care don’t let your child suffer like mine has!"

"Spent over 2 hours on the phone with multiple people (who I could tell didn't want to talk to me) about my Bill. After begging someone to listen to me they found they over charged me $300....like I originally told them... Also had a dozen doctors visiting the room, do nothing and charging $250 each."

"WORST STAFF I HAVE EVER SEEN. So arrogant and rude. Always their word against yours. truly the worst experience I can even imagine I could go through in a million years. Maybe a handful actually care and respect the situation you're in but the rest are disgusting, vile, rude staff."
