Reviews of Stony Brook Children's Hospital
"Went there for my son who had cellulitis and a cyst on the left side of his brain. They room was beautiful, the staff was beyond amazing. They made him feel very comfortable they always explained what they was going to do before they did it.They were very patient with him as well.To help the make the time go by and for him to get out of his room they had a play room which had toys and fun activities in which my son enjoyed. They also had complimentary food, drink and snacks for parents/adults which was very sweet.I would definitely recommend going there and will take all my kids there."
"A huge THANK YOU to everyone at the pediatric ER who helped my daughter, my husband and myself last night. THANK YOU especially to the doctor we had on staff, Kristiana- I hope I'm smelling your name right! THANK YOU for being so kind, reassuring and professional."
"My son was in earlier and saw Dr. Mcbroom. What an absolutely horrible experience. My child experienced a physical trauma and had been in pain, and getting worse for over a week. We tried 2 urgent orthopedics but they didn't see pediatric so we tried stony brook since they do imaging and labs. They did essentially nothing but referred us to other places that take awhile to get appointments. The discharge paper says could be viral, but didn't offer flu or covid tests. Referred to an orthopedic, but did no imaging. Referred to rheumatologist but didn't do any blood work to see if necessary. My 8 year old got a mask, tylenol, and a letter excusing him from school today, but not from physical activity in the next few days, even though the paper says rest. Apparently all of the negative feedback I've heard is correct. A total waste of time and my poor child is still in pain. Both said to be seen as soon as possible, so apparently the sense of urgency can just be passed to others."
"My daughter was born at Stony Brook last fall and spent days in the nicu after. I was absolutely terrified and an anxious mess, especially as a first time mom. The doctors were great and I fully trusted their choices. My reason for writing the review though was the nurses. All of the nurses we came in contact with in the NICU (and throughout the entire stay at the hospital from the start) were absolutely outstanding! Two nurses in particular, Christina and Nicole, took such exceptional care of our daughter and made us feel comfortable enough that we were able to get some sleep every now and then. I’m a nurse, but this is not my area of expertise so I really relied on them and loved how they acted not only as incredible caregivers, but also as advocates. Can’t say enough good things!"
"Absolutely loved this place. My 2 year old came to the hospital first to the ER and then was admitted to the 6th floor west ward. All the nurses, doctors and support staff were very nice and took care of our daughter very carefully. Also they nicely explained the treatments and the medicine that was given to my daughter. My.daughter is a little shy to strangers but the staff tried to interact her really well and we were really impressed. She also got lots of toys to play with while she was there. I would 100% recommend this hospital."
