"I was here May 7, 2021-June 12, 2021. Great, caring staff who went above and beyond for the clients. They encouraged clients to participate in group etc but did not force anything on anyone. The staff was truly amazing and wanted to see clients do better for themselves. I was kept busy and felt that my voice was heard and my needs were met. My counselor was Seva and she was THE BEST! She had my discharge plans ready by the second day I was in the inpatient program (after detox). She listened to my needs and made sure they were all taken care of. This place saved my life and I would definitely send someone I love here! Forever grateful."
"I have been there more than a few times. WAYYYYYYY better than jail. Wayyyyyy better After detox was getting my head clear and worked on myself. Yes it's a state program. I've been in private programs that cost $$$. The staff at CVH over all Great. get your recovery started there."
"I was part of the STARS program in September of 2012. It was court ordered and I honestly did not want to go. I asked to just be sent back York. I was sick and not looking forward to being there at all. By the time I got there it was 6pm and I had to do an intake. I hate intakes and I especially hate intakes when I’m sick. They made it as painless as possible. I finally was able to go to the floor, I was put on B side. I was thankful to see a lot of the women who were in York with me as well. My first week was rough and just went to appease court. I’ve done detox and rehab and find them all to be the same. It’s always someone saying they know what I’m going through, they care about me etc etc. I was assigned a counselor and a process group, I still wasn’t wanting to be there. After 2 weeks of being sick and finally being able to get on methadone, I thought this may actually work this time! My counselor was Bev, she was absolutely incredible! She took her time with me and didn’t push me to open up, she just patiently waited until I was ready. I never saw anyone be mistreated, disrespected or degraded. I ended up staying past my discharge date because I had to wait for placement somewhere else after. I honestly owe my clean time to Bev. She showed me that I could do it and I wasn’t hopeless. I have been clean since August 12th 20212. I entered Merritt Hall on September 12th 2012 from York Correctional Facility. I will have 9 years clean in August thanks to Bev and Merritt Hall."
"Because it's a Mental Hospital. The Governor is taking away funds for Forensics short work hours for clients. Restrictions from computer use. Little opportunity to recover. Staff are in the news for abuse. I have been abused repeatedly tied to a bed for days weeks didn't get anything to eat. Forced to take medication. Sexually abused by staff and clients and physically. I saw other clients treated worse. The grounds are pretty nice. A lot of condemned buildings."
"Horrible, depressing atmosphere..... The staff is incompetent, lacks compassion, and do not care about the patients. Patients are over medicated and wear dirty clothes. If you purchase new clothing for your family member it is stolen by the staff. There are no activities to engage patients. Many just watch television to pass the time. The food proportions are small. I am in the process of getting my family member out of there. This hospital should be shut down! I hope the Justice department sues them!!"
