"Suffice to say I'm not a fan of divorce or divorce lawyers. And I'm not a person who ever leaves reviews. During my divorce proceedings, it seemed everyone had advice to offer. Most of it conflicted with my personal instincts- move fast, move hard, and mitigation is a waste of time- more painful and ultimately more expensive. That was the general tone of advice. I'm glad to say my ex-wife and I ignored pretty much all the well intentioned advice, and after a couple of false starts we found Michael Becker. "I hope this review can help the person reading it- I’m sure you are going through a lot, but trust me, eventually everything will clear out and you will feel like yourself again. This too shall pass. After reading so many wonderful reviews, I thought Mike was the right guy to help us with our divorce. My ex and I had a very straightforward case. Shared custody and financial 50/50 split. Our real problem was our stubbornness and lack of perspective and understanding. Mike profited out of this vulnerable state for more than a year and a half and 35K. During this time, our relationship with Mike deteriorated to the point of him insulting us during one of our last sessions. He admitted to be so unprofessional that he didn’t charge us for that day. We ended up hiring external counsel for the rest of the mediation. So, another 10K and more headaches and disagreements. Here comes the BIG reveal…It was not until my ex and I realized that none of these lawyers really cared about us and we were just wasting our hard-earned money. But above all, we needed to learn how to work with each other for the next 15 years for our sake, and our daughter’s sake. No mediator or lawyer is going to do that for you. Our divorce was finalized in June 2022 and while I wouldn’t say that we are friends, my ex and I became civil and responsible “business partners.” I hope the same for you. Mike is a cool guy, he is funny! I could have a beer with him. But as a mediator, he will profit out of your conflict and despair. I guess that’s what lawyers do and he does a great job at that.
