Reviews of St. Joseph's University Medical Center
"I have been in the emergency department with my son at 7:00 pm , they checked in at 7:05 pm and we have been waiting for a couple of hours. Now 10:00 pm and I asked the front desk agent that , how long I have to wait? She says I don’t know. My son is crying because of his pain and he is hungry as well. I don’t understand how this department called emergency! This is a horrible situation! and it’s should have to be handled by a good administration immediately. I would like to ask to the city of Paterson to pay attention please!please!! Please!!!"
"It sickens me that I have to even put a star, my dear 76-year old mother was EUTHANIZED by this hospital Sep, 6, 2019. This hospital does NOT care for the elderly, in fact anyone who is elderly and infirm will be put in DANGER if they are brought to this hospital, St. Joseph's cares nothing for the older population and it is not advisable to bring ANYONE to this hospital regardless of their age, but that population fares far worse. Suffice to say I don't think you can find one human being in this hospital. The people who work here are monsters and if you say anything the security guards and the "police" will violently bully you and intimidate you. I do not know how a place like this is still allowed to operate. If you see all of the previous reviews it is not hard to see that this place fails in every way to be a place of healing and does not meet ANY standard of care. I was not even aware my mother was being taken to St. Joseph's and I did not know the nightmare that would await me there. The hospital kept me from my mother and did not seem to know that she was a dialysis patient, when I notified them of that they removed me from the hospital and banned her from having any and all visitors so I had to call for updates. St. Joseph's LIED to me and I did not know that my mother was not being fed FOR WEEKS! The doctor was also giving my mother abnormally high doses of fentanyl without my knowledge or consent. When I finally saw her, I can find no other words to describe her than a living corpse, she had not been fed in THREE weeks, her neck was bloody and she was gasping for air. I was kept from my mother's bedside and I could not even be there when she passed away. I could not be by mother's bedside, they were not being truthful about her condition and they robbed me of my mother and the remaining time I had with her. Absolute demons! Hospital of Horrors! Shut this place down!"
"While on vacation, my husband and I ended up needing emergency care. This is simply a homeless shelter masquerading as an ER. I heard some people waiting 3-4 hours and still weren’t called when we decided to visit a different ER. I feel for the full room of pediatric patients who were waiting to take the place of adults looking for a medication fix and warm bed. Severity of symptoms should always take precedent over who simply decided to wait 4 hours inside out of the cold."
"I used to speak so highly of this hospital a very long time ago but now they are not at all even meeting the basic needs of their patients. I received terrible care during my L&D experience from the attending doctor, Dr. Barber. After a horrendous event they rushed me out- I was discharged even though I had multiple, valid complaints, which I ended up being hospitalized for again. I ended up in a different hospital for about a week with the same complaints that they were not caring enough to look into. I contacted patient relations who were “investigating” the issues I brought up to them and there was no actual resolution, so in my opinion they were no help! The only good thing this hospital has going on are their nurses- most of them were caring and compassionate. The doctors and the residents (specially the year 1 residents that I encountered) need to have more training on ethics and caring for their patients. They are dealing with peoples lives who have loved ones."
"Theses dominican teenagers don't belong here at this time cause it's very dangerous for the elderly. This is not a bar for teenagers to entertain themselves only for the people who are sick in the hospital. This hospital need plenty of protect on the hospital windows cause you could see everything clear from here. Theses young teenagers think that the hospital is a bar texting on there phones at night and looking at the doctors going back and fourth to put the chairs like this and all doors need a better lock for the future. Theses teenagers should stay outside not come in the hospital and chill it's only for the sick people and I know it's not easy to work in the hospital. Theses teenagers think this hospital is to hang out they don't belong here at this hour at midnight. This is so inappropriate look what the Dominican teenagers are doing in the hospital. This hospital building should not be a hospital anymore this hospital building should be broking down people are not doing there job here and this should be a brand new high school it should be call St James College in Paterson NJ and it will be only the teenagers that live in this area and this high school should allow uniform and pants and the lunch room the students should bring there school lunch ID only and it will be nice for the brand new students that enter to that brand new high school and instead of books they will have computers and tablets in every room and they could have a water fountain in the front and remove the parking lot and have the parking lot in the other side better and this St. James College should also have cops to keep an eye on the students in the school."
