"I came into Mather and was treated awfully . The nurse was saying I was drug seeking meanwhile the PA just gave me meds . The dr didn’t take my pain seriously admitted me for a night then discharged me in agony . I had no choice but to go to Huntington Hospital we’re I needed emergency surgery. And for Mather why isn’t there a door in the ER bathroom you make enough money from insurance. I would suggest Mather treating patients more like humans . I could have lost my life due to them I’m a young girl .. not right Mather do better and for the nurses don’t assume everyone drug seeking people are in pain be more understanding what if it was you in the bed ."
"You used to be a great hospital this is the 2nd time I had horrible service. I was admitted for sepic and the cause is unknow. Dr Minster was horrible wouldn't listen to me on why I kept getting fevers and I felt like they were milking my insurance and was being a prison. Get up to go the the bathroom and had alarms going off. No one cares. Had to beg for a new gown since I was soaked with sweat. 4 days didn't even change my sheets. I can say the ER was great but after that it was all down hill. I am so upset on how I was treated. I am not the type of person to leave a bad review but please beware before going here. Don't have a clue how you can be top hospital you are now just as bad as Stony Brook"
"I have known this hospital as a child. My mom worked there in the 60's. I had my tonsils taken out there when I was 7. They made me feel safe. I went to the ER for a dog bite. I was treated quickly and with care. Just a few years ago I had no place to go. I was scared. I went from the ER into a room. I was kind of like hiding there. They left me alone but brought me food and a place to sleep. They were so kind and respectful. They didn't judge me or make me feel ashamed. I will never forget it. Just recently I had COVID, RSV, congestive heart failure and pneumonia. I couldn't breath at all. I was scared for my life. I really thought I was going to die. I was sent to ICU. I was so scared but the nurses and Drs took excellent care of me. When I couldn't breath the nurses would stand outside my room at the window telling me to breath. They were monitoring my oxygen intake and saw that it was low. Every time they saw something they would come to check on me to see if I was alright. I had blood work done about 5 times a day. They discovered I had a blood clot in my leg. They also found out I had a UTI. I'm telling you, I didn't think I could fight any more. I was in during Christmas. I was in ICU for about 4 days. Then they transferred me to critical care, a step down unit. I was in the hospital afor a week. The dietary made sure I got what I wanted. They even called back to ask about and plan my meals for the rest of the day and the next day. This hospital made me feel like I was family. They really did. I was at Stony brook hospital a few times. They were so clinical and there seemed like it was a cold atmosphere. There was no feeling of warmth. Here at Mather you could really tell they cared. They were compassionate and made me feel like they were with me. It was like I had a family cheering me on. I wish I could remember all of the people's names who took care of me. I would thank them individually if I could. They really made me feel loved. They took excellent care of me. They saved my life. For that I am for ever grateful. If I'm ever given a choice of which hospital to go to, it would be Mather Hospital. That hospital is fantastic. Sincerely, Laurie A. Wisti."
"My dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma(blood cancer )5 year ago. After a particularly horrible experience at another hospital we requested his guys take him to Mather instead . THANK YOU MATHER hospital. You folks have shown us what quality care is. From the helpful operators, the kind and patient aides, the best nursing team we could hope for and the absolute gold standard of doctors. Again, thank you for taking such great care of my dad. He's back in now with the flu and pneumonia ,I have such comfort knowing he's there getting the best care possible ."
