Reviews of Porter and Chester Institute
"Fair warning to anyone who is in the enrolling process. The staff here are very welcoming at first. They’re always a phone call away for any questions or concerns. Until you go through something like me. I originally had to take a leave of absence due to a family member passing away. My grades reflected my mental health during that time. In hopes to avoid failing the program (Licensed Practical Nursing), I took my leave of absence which they helped me do. However I noticed during this leave of absence this school was still taking money out of my account every month. I no longer could afford it so I spoke to the Campus Director of Operations and Education, Mr. Pat O’Brien. He advised me in an email along with Career Program Specialist, Ms. Marcy Joslin Kravet, who helped with my admission here; “at this time it would make more sense for you to withdraw from the program and then apply for readmission once you’re able. If you decide to withdraw you will only be charged for the weeks that you attended and if any money is left over from what has been paid would be refunded. Please let me know if you would like to process the withdrawal.” I emailed back saying that I would like to proceed with the withdrawal (since I cannot afford it). This was back in December of 2022, it’s now May of 2023 and I have yet to hear back from anyone. My credit score is now suffering due to this situation. I can’t even look into other schools because I am still tied to this. I have left several emails, messages and called so much from then to now with no response. Not only is this the only issue I have with this school but the school itself is completely unorganized and not well prepared. Don’t get me wrong my teachers were great but they didn’t know what were on the tests they gave us every week, they didn’t know what was on the homework or their lesson plans. Overall if you’re thinking of going here really think about it because if for some reason you need to withdraw you will face the same thing as me."
"My son graduated from their Stratford campus which later moved to Bridgeport. When I accompanied him on his enrollment, he was told the majority of graduates are placed with apprentice work after graduation…..NOT TRUE!!! They take your money and forget you as a student!!!! I contacted someone who helps place students with apprentice work and was told the whole department were given furloughs. This is unacceptable!!! I demand a response!!!"
"Please don't go here anyone they will waste your time and money look at the reviews I try to look pass the negativity because I was desperate for a school and you can't even use their credits towards ANYTHING the teachers are nice yes and they will teach you but it won't matter you'll have the skills but can't actually do anything and they say they help with financial aid but won't help you at all will let you do it alone and struggle then kick you out mid way because u didn't complete something..... what is the point of having financial aid advisor who don't help you... everyone is not good at that and most school will absolutely help you or do it for you if u struggle in that area you will literally be going here for no reason I went to a different school !!! Best decision ever!!!! I'm now working happy owe nothing and can actually use my credits to continue and further my education....my advice is they need to hire better people not teachers ....the people they have running this place are very lazy unorganized and rude."
