George Carini Preserve 30 Water Street, Chester, CT 06412

The George Carini Preserve, located at 30 Water Street in Chester, Connecticut, is a beautiful park managed by the Chester Land Trust. This institution works in partnership with residents and town officials to identify and acquire land with conservation possibilities for the benefit of the community. The preserve offers a serene environment for visitors to enjoy nature and find strength in the beauty of the earth, as famously expressed by Rachel Carson.

The Chester Land Trust is dedicated to protecting forests, farmlands, wetlands, and wildlife for present and future generations. One of their ongoing projects is the removal of the non-native invasive plant species, Japanese knotweed, from the Carini Preserve. The results of this effort can be seen in a poster displayed at the preserve's kiosk.

Established in 1987, the Chester Land Trust is a volunteer non-profit organization with 87 gifted or donated preserve acres, including the Motley Preserve, which was purchased. Other preserves managed by the trust include Lakeview Avenue Preserve, The Old Tannery Preserve, Melillo Preserve, The Pines Easement, Brooks Lane, Liberty Ridge Easement, and Bush Conservation Easement.
