Shafran Conservation Area

"This is a beautiful forest, especially in the spring when the stream is running strong. The hike can be a little confusing and easy to loose your way if unfamiliar. Use AllTrails or Gaia to help with that. The outside loop is about 2 miles. Lots of tree roots on the paths. Back again early spring a year later… still gorgeous here! Came late afternoon after raining all day, not a problem to navigate here, easy to get around the few puddles, no bugs."

"This place is a beautiful forest preserve that helps protect the local water supply. The streams are pristine. There are beautiful old groves of gnarly mountain laurel. I hiked the orange loop in mid-october near the end of a sunny day. The late afternoon sunlight, coupled with the woods and streams make this a magical place!!. Parking for 5 cars. Watch closely for the entrance sign at the Sid of the road in the woods."
