Stratton Brook State Park
About the Business
Stratton Brook State Park, located at 149 Farms Village Road in Simsbury, Connecticut, is a popular tourist attraction offering a range of outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy. Originally known as Massacoe State Forest, the park features swimming, picnicking, fishing, cycling, and interpretive programs in a picturesque wooded setting that is ADA accessible. The park's land was initially acquired for forest fire control purposes along railroads, but now offers a scenic bike trail shaded by white pines, crossing over brooks and through a covered bridge. The Stratton Brook State Park Trail also connects to the Farmington River Trail and the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. Designated as a state park in 1949, Stratton Brook became the first fully wheelchair-accessible state park in Connecticut in 1996. Visitors can enjoy the park for free with in-state registered vehicles, while out-of-state vehicles are charged a fee of $10 on weekdays and $15 on weekends and holidays. Season passes are also available for out-of-state vehicles at a cost of $112.

Reviews
"Beautiful place with lots of trails. Love the pine trees!"
"Beautiful spot - have been fishing , mountain biking , hiking and picnicking here !! Just be cautious, several bears here recently."
"Plenty of swimming space and trails. Nice park. The water was a bit yucky with lots of goose poop."
"Beautiful park with something for everyone. There is a small beach, lots of walking trails, fishing spots, and dogs are welcome on the trails (just not the beach). There's a very nice environmental education center (that has stickers for kiddos). The lake was very warm the day we went and the beach was well maintained. We saw a bunch of different birds, a turtle, and so many caterpillars. The walking trails are well maintained, shady, and spacious. Even with a few people walking by the trails do not feel overly crowded. Overall, a really great place to spend a day."
"The place was beautiful as usual, lake was warm, frogs and fish were interesting but the wind was horrendous that day. We set up a couple of half-tents on the beach. Sand-blasted from the right. Determined to stay and enjoy, we re-adjusted our anchors and out of nowhere a dust/sand devil just appeared and literally blew us away. Reluctantly, we left vowing to return on a more peaceful day to once again bask while observing the beauty of the woods."
