Reviews of Wharton Brook State Park
"Beautiful park. Great for walking, picnics and fishing!"
"Just happen to rediscover this beautiful location while riding my motorcycle down route 5. My sister said my Mom used to take us here in the 70's but I couldn't remember. They have a walk in bathroom in the upper level and a big area in the lower level .in addition to permanent self contained grills for cooking and picnic tables. ill be visiting more often now that I rediscovered this place. ( recent Update..)while visiting park in Jan 2023 saw some guys having a drum circle at lower level, so I jumped in and played the drums and we had a nice jam session. they meet there from time to time I just discovered.. Ken arranges meets and location .CT DRUMMING COMMUNITY ( on Facebook ) if anyone is interested"
"I was visiting the area and decided to take a ride thru some of my old stomping grounds. There were still grills, picnic tables and a pavilion on each side of the field. There is a bathroom available and plenty of walking space. For many years I would stop there for my lunch break when I worked in the area. The trees are still green in mid September but it's very well kept."
"I noticed this park driving home today so I figured I would pull over and stop and check it out it's actually a really cool little spot to take a nice walk or have a picnic possibly a birthday or family gathering here they have a lot of picnic benches and grills and a pavilion where you can cook out it is pet friendly but the signs say that your dog has to be leashed. They have public outhouses here as well and in the back they also have a beautiful pond that you can walk around with a small covered bridge which is really nice I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you have not already it is a cute little family fun adventure to check out.."
"In 1918-1920, this Park was known as a traveler's wayside; motorists could stop to have their cars serviced and enjoy a quiet picnic lunch. The park was the forerunner of the rest areas developed by the State Department of Transportation. In 1918 Wharton Brook was established as a park."
