"We were there for peak foliage viewing today. You can drive right up to the tower but on a perfect fall weekend day like today it was very crowded. Many cars and pedestrians making their way up a narrow winding road but the color was worth it!"
"Drive up to see the landing and the castle itself! The area is stunning, and the views are unmatched. Take a good camera and have a nice trek around Castle Craig. There are even tables to relax by. Go on a warmer day if you can help it."
"My hike to Castle Craig in CT was an unforgettable adventure that I'd gladly rate five stars. The views from the summit were nothing short of breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista that made the entire journey worth it. The hike itself provided a decent challenge, striking a nice balance between exertion and enjoyment. It's the kind of trail that keeps you engaged without being overly strenuous. One notable aspect of this hike is the accessibility. For those who may prefer a more leisurely experience or have mobility limitations, it's worth mentioning that you can drive to the castle itself. This accessibility ensures that people of all abilities can enjoy the remarkable views from the top. Overall, Castle Craig is a gem of a hike in Connecticut, combining scenic beauty, a satisfying challenge, and the convenience of driving to the summit. I can't recommend it enough! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
"I hiked from Hubbard Park to the west peak first (blue trail) which is a nice moderate hike some exposure and loose trails towards the middle of the elevation gain. Came back down to the fork in the trail and followed the blue trail up the east peak to the "castle". Cool little spot with nice views. Followed the orange trail back down till it met up with the white trail and back to Hubbard Park. Pack out what you pack in and don't bring glass on the trails. So much broken glass on the trails. Bring plenty on water and sturdy hiking boots/shoes."
"So today I ended up hiking up to Castle Craig and follow a map from the alltrails app. It is definitely a bit steep in certain parts a lot of loose rock and a bit I'll pay also prepare yourself for a bit of a rock scramble once you head up. I parked in the small parking area left to when you pull in and I walked over the bridge that crosses the highway and started to head out onto my path. There is definitely a beautiful view up top and you get about four to five different views once you're up there. You will definitely see a nice view where the cell phone towers are. I saw a lot of wild mushrooms with your very cool it is such a beautiful area to hike I definitely recommend anybody checking this place out to sure do."
