"My husband hired Five Star Pools in Smithtown, NY, to do our pool closing last fall. Since they closed the pool, he thought he'd have them open our pool, which they did on May 9, 2022. My husband was charged $325 for a pool opening that did NOT include vacuuming our pool. For the cost of $325, wouldn’t you think vacuuming would be included? Not so according to the owner, David Lewis. THAT would be ANOTHER charge. Five Star Pools charges SO many fees like $40 per bag to remove leaves from your pool cover, $75 an hour to pump water from your pool cover, and the list goes on. When all was said and done, my husband had paid Five Star Pools almost $420 for a pool opening, plus tips! While speaking on the phone with my husband, David, the owner, had the audacity to say to him that “when you dine at a 5 star restaurant, you should expect to pay 5 star prices”. How arrogant! If you wish to stay in business”, Mr. Lewis, I’d treat my customers with more respect and appreciate their business. The fact that you called me “unbelievably ignorant” in your response to my negative review, then took that response down and rewrote it, tells me you KNEW you were wrong for name calling, which I did not do! You may be called “Five Star Pools” but you get ZERO stars from me for exorbitant pricing and patronizing customer service. STEER CLEAR of this company. Would definitely NOT recommend Five Star Pools to ANYONE!"

Dave and his team are professional, explain exactly what the job will entail, and the associated costs even before starting the job. We have used Five Star for years to open, close, and service our pool and have always been satisfied. They also perform pool inspections. We highly recommend Five Star Pools for anyone who wants great and professional service."

Had I written that response for you, I could not have done better to demonstrate the high-handedness and arrogance of your response to my wife. I do apologize that you felt that clearing out some dirt and gravel was "above and beyond". It is truly unfortunate that I did not perform your whole job for you prior to paying you over $400. With your own words, you have confirmed everything that my wife wrote about you and your business, and you have done your business no favors. I can only imagine what future customers will think about your poor attitude and lack of professionalism. I suspect you will need a lot of luck. My main complaint was about your utter lack of professionalism and high-handedness when dealing with a dissatisfied customer. Calling my wife or ANY customer "ignorant" is not the proper or right way to deal with a client who is not happy. I hope when dealing with future unsatisfied customers, you will take a more business-like approach with them."
