"For the tl;dr: Great teacher; great students/partners; great atmosphere; no pressure/hard sell; no silly BS; effective training; great for all ages and conditions, that is, you don't have to be super fit to start. I noticed a sandwich board sign on Route 6 near New Morning about a year and a half ago that advertised Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I sent an email inquiry and was informed that there are classes on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and that I was welcome to come and check out a class. My schedule at the time got a bit crazy and I didn't come in. Then this past October, I drove by the sign again, but decided to check it out. I watched a class on Monday the 22nd and attended my first class on Wednesday the 24th. Both the instructor and students were welcoming, and though I felt awkward and totally unprepared, I was never made to feel this way by my training partners or patient instructor. I had done martial arts 20 years ago, and now as a 49 year old sedentary person, I thought, there's no time like the present to try something new. I was hooked after my first class. I've never participated in an activity as physically empowering, humbling, and satisfying. As I look back on the past 9 months of training with Soulcraft in Woodbury, my only regret is that I didn't follow through the year earlier when I first made contact. If you've ever wanted to learn a martial art or just try something new I highly highly highly recommend Soulcraft in Woodbury."
