Reviews of New York Passport Agency
"Prompt, quick, polite and helpful. Consular staff went the extra mile. Show up 15-20 minutes before your appointment time as recommended; they let people in by groups so you’ll be at the front or end of the 7:30 AM group for instance. No food, no drink except water. Process is: 1. Get in line outside 15-20 min before appointment time 2. Your appointment time group is admitted inside 3. Go through security 4. Enter lobby area — get in line again for the first agent windows. They check that you have all the forms and arrange them for the staff upstairs. You get a ticket number for your place in line. 5. Go to Floor 10, sit and wait for your ticket number to be called. 6. Go to the window & go through the motions. Submit, sign, pay & come back to pick up when they tell you to. I had a 7:30 AM appointment and I was on my way out 45 minutes later."
"Very pleasant experience. 1. Get appointment confirmation and travel itinerary (these are a must). A lot of people in my line showed appointment confirmation on their phone and it was accepted 2. Don't come more than 30 minutes before your appointment . There is no indoor waiting area. 3. Line outside may look long but they let people per their appointment times and line moves fairly quickly. 4. No food. Water is okay. 5. First step is verify your documents. It's like most of the DMVs where they verify your 6 points 6. You'll get a tocken if your documents are in order 7. You take your documents and token to a higher floor and wait for your turn 8. They will again check your documents, ask you a couple of questions to understand your rationale for coming to them and then tell you passport pick up options.. Passport pick up (if you are eligible for pick up) is at the same location and doesn't need an appointment"
"Try to get an early appointment! Got the earliest appointment at 7:30am, got there around 7:10. There was a line outside but we got inside fairly quickly. Needed a brand new expedited passport the same day and after I presented the proper documents and proof of flight, they sent me upstairs to submit everything and make the payment. Told me to come back later in the day and now I’m leaving with my new passport! The staff here are helpful, fast and concise."
"Shocked to give a government agency 5 stars, but the entire process was easy, efficient, and everyone at the agency, and on the state department phone line, was so kind and helpful. I made a last minute appointment to have my passport renewed a few days before Christmas, and the entire process took roughly 24 hours. I would definitely recommend getting there early for your appointment and early for your passport pickup - there will be a line outside. The line moves fast, but the sooner you get there the sooner you're seen. It was nice to see so many happy faces right before the holiday weekend - lots of appreciative and happy travelers!"
"Let me start by saying getting a appointment was hard. The only they had was the day of my travel. Got there at 7am my appointment was 9:30 and flight was at 5pm at jfk security didn't let me in on till 9am I had everything fill out before and I talk to the person at the window she give me a # tool 40min to be call the to the next window that person was helpful she got her supervisor to put a rush on it so I can get it within 2 to 3 hr usually it would of taken 4 to 6 hr no need to get there too early they only will let you in according to your appointment time"
