"The school is disorganized and understaffed which has created a high teacher turn over and impacts academics. There is a lack of supervision as children, as young as 4, are seen roaming the halls on their own while teachers talk amongst themselves. Bullying is ignored and staff disregard parents’ request to address the issue or blame the concern parent. There is little to no parent teacher collaboration. Teachers appear to lack the knowledge of normal child development and resort to yelling and screaming at the children which reinforces the child’s behaviors. Assistance from the principle is non-exsistant as she does not respond to emails or telephone calls. To obtain any assistance with issues, a parent must go directly to the superintended of schools. In conclusion, if you desire a school that will destroy your child’s self esteem, reinforces inappropriate behaviors and ignores parent/ teacher collaboration then Capital Prep. Is the right toxic environment for you. Sent from my iPhone"
"I went to Capital Prep for many of my elementary school years. The school was extremely strict and had physical means of punishment including running up and down stairs with weights and doing wallsits for 45 minute increments. Simply talking in class could get you and all of your classmates in trouble. I didn't think anything of it but when I told my parents about the punishments they immediately pulled me out. Administration was very cruel, although the teachers were kind and really wanted to help their students. I thoroughly enjoyed the advanced classwork and was part of a gifted children John Hopkins program which was phenomenal. Despite the amazing education provided, the hostile environment was too much to deal with. You were publicly punished and shamed if you forgot a part of your uniform (which consisted of a blouse or long sleeved blouse, a vest or long sleeved sweater, a tie, a black belt, black dress shoes, and a choice of khaki pants or a khaki skirt). Kindergarteners were expected to undo their belts when they needed to use the bathroom and this caused many kids immense distress. There wasn't a ton of diversity, but there were many cliques, making the surroundings tense. Bullying was a big issue. Students are required to do two sports each year which interferes with school work. Overall, an awful school. Would give it negative stars if possible. People say that it's a good school but they just didn't see what was going on behind the scenes. I do not recommend this school to anyone, especially to children who have a disability such as panic disorder or anxiety."
"Capital Prep is a good school my daughter was accepted at the last minute. The Staff was wonderful. The staff was wonderful they help me out with uniform and school supplies. My daughter will do good and for her to attend Harding High School I rather pay for uniform them send her to school that will not help her."
"Capital prep is a good school because it could help you to get in a 4 year college. The three things I don't like with this school are the behavior is terrible especially when there is a substitute also, this school likes to give too many detentions and the school bathrooms are very nasty."
""Terrible" the behavior that's allowed in this school, My Aunt dropped her purse, in front of the school, three girls,"one with Pink and Purple hair", walking into the school picked the purse up and ran inside, My Aunt went inside to report the incident, The school staff, protected the girls, said they could not do anything to help her get her purse back, and did nothing to locate her purse, what a shame on Mr. Perry part since the school has cameras and could have easily resolved the issue. "Mr. Perry", you know the incident should have been handled better. Today is a stolen purse " god only knows what tomorrow has in stored for these three students that you didn't use the opportunity to show them right from wrong. "We believe in Karma Girls" Have A Happy Holiday's with the stolen money from the purse, If u can kindly return the documents that was in the purse, since they where more valuable than the $500. Mr. Perry Good Luck with these three "Girls" Smh"
