"I agree with the school and taking action towards a child bringing in a toy gun. Considering all the school shootings that are taking place in our country, Any type of gun (fake, b.b, real) should not be tolerated at all. What kind of message is that sending especially when a 5 or 6 child might not know the difference and accidentally bring in a real one and kill his fellow student or faculty and guess who gets in trouble, the parent. So toys are meant for home. With that being said, In the 1st month of my 1st child going to kindergarten at OMPS, I really dislike the schools faculty, they seem like they're just there for the paycheck and don't have the interest of the children top priority. I made a lunch request telling the school that if I send my child to school with a cold lunch, he is not allowed to get a hot lunch on tab and that I would send a note with money if he is to have hot lunch that day. They did not honor my request but have no problem sending home a note saying I need to pay his lunch debt ASAP!! In the OMPS handbook, they stated that "if your child does not have lunch money for that day, they will be given an alternative lunch instead" which to me would be cheaper or free but this has not been an option, just a bill for $2.75 (price for 1 hot lunch). My child will hopefully not attend this school 1st grade on. This lunch issue is just the tip of the iceberg. Highly disappointed"
"After incident of Friday, May 24, i would suggest anyone with in Plamer ISD to seriously consider moving their child or children. Per their actions they have shown the lack the common sense and / or knowledge to distinguish between a molded piece of plastic and a weapon. Now on three occasions they have used poor judgement followed by scare tactics on children that do not understand political terminology of zero tolerance. I am happy to report that my child is no longer within the ISD"
"What a sad, sad school and administration as evidenced by the recent toy situation and a 6 year old."
"I went to this school in 1993, a few years after it opened, from Kindergarten through the first two months of second grade, and it wasn't fun. The previous review proves that nothing changed since then. On a positive note, my second grade teacher was totally different from my two previous two teachers (in a good way), she was very patient and very effective, I was actually disappointed when we had to move to Maine that year. My first grade teacher however was nasty and made me feel like crap, and frequently made other children cry. My Kindergarten teacher was also a bit on the witchy side. With all the money that the State of Massachusetts allocates into their schools, they sure don't have much to show for it, except for a few good test scores. I wish New Jersey's schools had that kind of money."
