Reviews of Southington Open Space
"Great sunset, picnic, or walking spot."
"I pulled in to the parking lot today and they had done work on the trails. their is a Red, /blue, Green blaze. not too bad minus the mud and how they tore it up with the tractor. all 3 blazes you can see but a little confusing on the green in the way back and i ended up going a little far out. you can do a few miles or more I would say. its decent to walk dogs or if you are local by all means to drive a long distance No"
"Nice place to hike and get away quick. Easy trails . Perfect for families .I enjoy the view from the parking lot as well.dogs must be on a leash .signs says no cannabis smoking so I smoke as much as possible ."
"Nice trail but a mixed bag. Trail well marked and maintained in some areas. Other parts sparse trail blazes when needed, and moderately to heavily overgrown. No overlooks on trail but nice walk on Ridgeline with tall pines overhead, nice cool breeze. See another reviewers excellent picture of where the blue trail crosses the stream. Can be a bit tricky crossing as rocks are about fist size and covered in wet moss, green algae which makes them slippery. Also depending upon water level, you will get wet. Warning more for small kids and dogs. I usually take the red Trail back as it is much less overgrown Usually uncrowded and peaceful."
"Nearly 2 mile hike if use all three trails. Good view to the west at start and of ridge to the east on return. Open fields, dense brush and woods. Good footing, wide open easy to moderate trails. Two short steep climbs. Brook on blue main trail not always passable. Bootleg trails and lack of markings in some places adds adventure to the walk."
