Reviews of Key Food Supermarkets
"After shopping there my EBT card was scam scanned and $279 of food stamps was stolen. I went back there tonight and looked to the last register to the end away from the exit where I swipe my EBT card and the card swapping machine was hanging off the pole a sign that has been tampered with. I told the clerk that on a different register that after I swipe my card on the machine that is broken off its stand two days later my stamps was stolen and it was the last place I used it. She stated the a few other people experience the same thing. Be careful when using your EBT card here. Change your PIN number immediately after shopping here. I will be reporting this the the authorities to put them under investigation,"
"A place of quality products with a clean place, organized displays, a shop with ease, industrious, and friendly people, a big parking area for customers,"
"Always nearly out of stock with their meats and produce is on the way on the outs as far as freshness. It's like everything is second-hand & been there for ages and it just is dirty overall. Very surprising considering the neighborhood, it's not like you're on Grand Concourse or in Getty Square, even the bench outside now on Riverdale Avenue beyond the bus stop has dirty old used mini-liquor bottles, tissues, old thrown away food, gross, ghetto. Nobody cares anymore. And it's one of the only stores NOT to have self checkout option. They're too cheap to update anything in there even after closing down for whatever reason for a month or so a summer ago. I just don't get it. Also super expensive for no reason like many of the other stores recently. Inflation blah blah but like I said, it's dirty and old food, so it's even worse charging outrageous prices for that. It's that bad."
"Customer service is great and it's a clean establishment but an old building..."
"This place is obviously mass generating positive reviews when everything else should indicate otherwise. If you are looking at reviews of this place, zero in on this one. The produce is not fresh, a fraction of the products are either not in the best shape. Some of the cashiers have attitude problems. The biggest factor of course is the price gouging. In general most of the products are priced above normal margins but the degree to which on certain products is insane. A 12 pack of Ice carbonated drinks was being sold at $15-16 which is 50-60% higher than targets pricing which is known to be inflated. The eggs and yogurt are similarly inflated at margins of 50-60% greater than targets prices which is hard to believe. They charged $9.29 pretax for chobani yogurt, which happens to be priced in the $5-6 range at target. I paid for some bread from their bakery and it developed mold so fast that I couldn’t tell whether the bread became bad that quickly or was just like that when I bought it. Overall the place is dingy, has limited selection, has an overpriced selection, employs people with attitudes (not to generalize all the employees but I could probably guess 20%) and decomposing products. This is not biased nor is it hyperbole, this is a straightforward recollection of my experience"
