"Proceed with caution! We were introduced to Vescio Family Advisors (VFA) in 2017 by our long time accountant who was retiring and merging with VFA, who took over his existing book of business. We worked with our original accountant for 10 years. He was exceptional in that he was always proactive in his preparation of our personal and business taxes. All that changed when our books were taken over by Vescio Family Advisors. The annual in-person visits from our accountant (or at least phone conversation) to prepare prior to the end of the year were no longer part of the service. It became a completely impersonal, transactional service. During the preparation of our 2017 personal return (in 2018), the VFA accountant made a significant error and did not file our returns properly. In November 2018, we received a notice that we owed a penalties and interest in the amount of $1770 for the mistake. We submitted the notice to VFA for review. They admitted fault and helped us prepare a response which indicated we relied on the advice of tax advisors who misunderstood the filing requirement and asked for the fees to be waived. We received a response from the state in 2019 noting the request to waive the interest was denied. We reached out to Christopher Vescio, owner of the firm, and he declined to cover all or even part of the payment for the mistake they were 100% responsible for. We sent him a second request asking him to please reconsider, which was completely ignored. We are now forced to pay. We have since moved on to a different accountant and instantly saw an improvement in the level of communication and service. I've written very few online reviews in the past, but I felt others should be made aware of how VFA dodges accountability. They couldn't care less about their customers. I highly recommend you choose another accounting firm that has better reviews or comes from a recommendation of a family member or friend."
