"One cashier with a line and someone checked my work for accuracy at the self check. There's a very troubling trend of removing traditional checkout lanes and installing self checkout stands. Employees are being replaced by machines and uncompensated (not even reduced prices) customer labor. Customers are now an uncompensated employee of the corporation, or you are waiting in lines designed to push you into the self-check area . What happens when most or all employees are eliminated? If anyone knows how this trend ends with anything but nearly universal poverty, I'd LOVE to hear about it."
