"Just got a cold call from these folks, apparently they don't respect state do-not-call lists. Not a chance I'd do business with them."
"When your customer service center closes for the holidays on Dec 22 at 4 pm ET :( and you leave your customers hanging. Should have read the reviews before doing business with them."
"July 28, 2023 Equitable‘s customer service is in India. They don’t know anything and they never read too. I got furstrated every time I called them. I sent the request to have Systematic monthly distribution (instead of annually) by fax about 4 weeks ago together with the required forms, one guy said he got it, 2 said “Never received”, until now, after a month, they still did not do it. The worst is to avolid my calls, they claimed that my POA needs to be renewed every 2 years b4 I can speak to them again. Anybody ever heard that kind of nonsense?? What I have is actually, a DPOA and is good as long as my spouse is around, I told them. Don‘t ever buy anything from Equitable because they are irresponsible. They hire overseas cheap, stupid labors and expect foreginers to serve their customers and we, customers get stuck and suffer. I told my brother inlaw and my friends not to buy life insurance from Equitable. it does not worth it. MH"
"The customer service and roll over process was so bad I actually sought out this Google rating so I could one star it. It was an absolute nightmare to roll over the 403b from them to my current employer (another 403b). It begins with the release of a 15 page application. After filling out this application, I had to send in the whole packet, along with the blank pages (even though from the three customer service reps I talked to, they all had different opinions about which sections ACTUALLY had to be filled out). I had to spend hours on the phone, as they wanted my current 403b provider to fill out information on their form (which no one does). Even with a clear acceptance letter sent to them, Equitable still acted like they were confused about the logistics, even though instructions for writing the check were clearly listed on the letter. I've now called back and forth six times and I'm still no closer to releasing my money. I can sum it up by saying that when I told my current 403b provider about what Equitable was doing, they were wildly confused. They expressed that they had NEVER heard of a process like this and one rep even confided that, "Wow I'm glad I don't work there, it sounds horrible." Avoid, unless you want your money tied up forever."
"Absolutely terrible, unethical company. Helping my wife roll over her 403b account and it honestly feels like they are doing everything they legally can do to make this process impossible. Equitable was caught being predatory at my wife's public school by cold emailing teaching pretending to be officially affiliated with the school district, which they were not. Warning emails were sent from the administration to not trust Equitable and that they were misrepresenting themselves as being employer-sanctioned, but really found the email addresses of unsuspecting teachers online and tried to take advantage of them not knowing. I have a lot of experience working with financial institutions, but Equitable is astonishingly unhelpful and purposely buries the process of how to get your money deep inside layers of red tape. I can't express enough how much you should stay far, far away from this company at all costs. Dishonest, extremely difficult to work with - STAY AWAY!"
