Reviews of James Earl Jones Theatre
"An absolutely lovely Broadway theater. Granted, the play was the best one I have ever seen, but the venue was stunning. The seats were comfortable, and it wasn't a super huge theater, about 1000 something seats. It was just a magical place."
"I was there with my family to watch Gutenberg! The musical. Before the show starts James Earl Jones asked us to put our phones away told us he was not our father, and repeated a few more of his famous tag lines. Made us all laugh. The theater is small and intimate. I don’t think there is a bad seat in the house. I would recommend anyone seeing any show here, but Gutenberg was fantastic. The original cast Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells was there and they are hilarious."
"Went to see Gutenberg! here which is fantastic- absolutely hilarious, with two great stars, and incredibly entertaining. The view from our seats in the house right orchestra was great and unobstructed. Ample legroom. Bathrooms did not get crowded, even during intermission. Would definitely recommend both the show and the theatre."
"Very nice ornate theater in immaculate condition. We had seats in the balcony but yet the theater still felt close and intimate. In addition to the historically preserved main theater there is a tastefully added annex that offers modern amenities and contributed to a pleasurable evening at the theater. The staff was very helpful."
"Recently saw Gutenberg the Musical here. View of stage from front center mezzanine is outstanding. Sound quality also very good. We had front row seats, so had a bit more leg room, but the seats are cramped and not comfortable. My husband requested a glass of water for me to take some medication and was charged $10. That’s more than a little ridiculous. Worse is that the water was undrinkable with a metallic taste and chemical smell. Of the four ushers we encountered, three were lovely. The fourth was very curt and nasty to the couple in front of us and was busy yelling at another usher. Security at the entrance was efficient and moved the line to enter quickly."
