Reviews of Brazi's Italian Restaurant
"From out of town and thought I would give this place a try since it had almost a 5 star rating. I came in at about 5:30 pm on a Tuesday night. Atmosphere and service were great, the food however was average. Maybe I caught them on a bad night. Ordered the Pasta Fagioli and the Cavatelli Con Broccoli. Fagioli came out quick but had a food temp that was below lukewarm. It also was pretty average and lacked any flavor. They brought it back and was hot, which I’m certain was microwaved. The Cavatelli came out piping hot but you can tell it was made some time earlier. The pasta was mushy as well as the broccoli. There was a watery substance that suggested it was perhaps microwaved as the water probably came from the frozen broccoli and not part of the sauce. I’m sure this is typical of a lot of restaurants to do, I just expected a better quality. The Cavatelli, except for the taste of garlic lacked any flavor and seasoning. The plus side was they did not charge me for the soup and I just paid for the Cavatelli. All in all atmosphere and service was great, just lacking on the food quality. There’s better Italian restaurants out there though if you’re looking for a quality dinner. This place is perhaps worth another try if I’m in the area. Again maybe this was an off night for them."
"We were looking for a place to meet our son half way between us. I looked at reviews and this place looked well loved. Upon arrival, I realized that I have seen it for many years as I drive along 95. The charm that shows in the photos is not the half of it. The place is divided up into cozier rooms so you feel like you are in a smaller restaurant. Our wait staff was friendly and well trained. I wanted a nice baked something, so I chose the Italian Combo. No pictures because I ate it. The tiramisu afterward made the meal!"
"Wow, what a completely disappointing experience this was. We decided to stop in solely based off all the reviews, I swear people were talking about a different place. Food was incredibly bland, the bread was flavorless, their house dressing for the salads tasted like butter with some garlic powder mixed in, and who puts a single olive on a salad?! I had the Chicken Brazi and while it looked good it tasted of burnt spinach and cheap cooking wine. Wife had the Tortellini alla Toscana and she mentioned it tasted how Elmer's glue smells and had the texture of paste. Handicap parking was pathetic, not a single spot with enough room on the side for your side ramp handicap van. And my wife had a challenging time in her wheelchair while trying to use the bathroom, handicap stall was way to small. There is way to much good food in New Haven, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!"
"I had the pleasure of dining here as a guest just yesterday. So many good things to say! Christian was an attentive and friendly server, anticipating needs and giving space when needed. The owner is generous to a fault, humble and comfortable doing what he loves best. The food...I had the appetizers that come with various seafood. The calmari was tender and was yummy with and without sauce. The filled clams were seasoned with herbs and tomato- loved them, too. I had little mini rolls stuffed with pepperoni, the eggplant parmigiana (took 3/4 of it home by the time it came and was so glad to do so), a couple of different pasta dishes, tiramisu AND their signature libation- limoncello and a pistachio cream. They are both gorgeous in their own right. I felt lucky to have been invited to the table at this restaurant. I wouldn't have known it was there since it is hidden from view. But if you can find your way to IKEA, you are right in the neighborhood of Brazi's. Just go. You'll be glad you did! Mangia!"
"My favorite things about Brazi's are the atmosphere, professional staff and fresh bread. The first time I went I had the Penne Alla Vodka which is absolutely delicious. This time I tried the Lasagna Al Forno. It was ok, it was a little salty for my taste vs seasoned for my enjoyment. I will continue to go back and try different dishes."
