Reviews of Dev's On Main
"First time we came to this restaurant a week ago without any reservation. We were happy to see that there were plenty of free tables but to our surprise we were told that there was no available seats for us because everything was booked. After we explained that some of us travelled quite a distance to try their food, we were seated at the tables with high chairs, which are not comfortable at all for the middle age women. But we got lucky that night, because when our third companion arrived we were moved at the regular table. Our waitress, Corin, was excellent. The food was delicious, especially the Lamb Chops. Thus our first experience was good enough for us to come to this place with slightly larger company and with advanced booking for 7 people. But this time everything went wrong from the moment we arrived. Because some members of our company had to travel 95 with its unpredictable traffic, they were late. The restaurant was almost empty, but our group of 5 ( one couple was late) were denied to be seated. We were told that by the policy of the restaurant none of the guests could be seated before all members of the group had arrived. I have never been treated that way at any other restaurant. We got at our table and could order food only 40 minutes after our initially booked time. The one more couple arrived. The wife had a birthday on that day and after celebrating it with a family they decided to join our company. The manager of the restaurant didn't want let the couple in despite of the fact that there were a lot of free tables."
"This is likely my favorite restaurant in Niantic. The food and drinks are both delicious. I love that many of the food offerings are dishes I wouldn't normally make at home. This is mostly tapas 6 the portions are small, and it can get pricey, but I think it is worth it. My favorite drink is the pistachio martini. For food I love anything with short ribs."
"We always love Dev's, and have had varied experiences. Sometimes the owner (and her mom!) visit the tables...we have had fun chatting with her while seated at the bar on several occasions. The food is ALWAYS AMAZING and recently we noticed the various staff have been so welcoming, accommodating, and really just on top of their game! Cheers to Dev's on Main!"
"What a great experience. Weary travels after a long flight. Had no idea where to eat especially with a major wheat allergy. Stopped in here and we were blown away by the food. I ordered a steak with a horseradish cream sauce and truffle chips. The best casual dinner out in years. The steak was expertly prepared and presliced. Chips prepared fresh. My husband order a surf and turf that was delicious and beautifully presented. I seriously don't know how they execute a menu like theirs. It's extensive and covers so many regions and cultures. Wait staff was great and we had a warming salt candle on our table. The atmosphere was lively and convivial with locals. A super cute town, too."
"Dev’s on Main is just a great dining experience and gets high ratings in all areas. We decided to go tapas style for this dinner experience. There were three of us which is a perfect number for this style eating as many of the small bites dishes have at least three pieces to share. We started by being offer a complementary sample of a Stomping Horse wine from Washington state along with a goat cheese spread on a crostini. This was enough to convince one in our party to get the red wine while I decided to partake in both types of sangria. The first round was Vegetable Purses with two dipping sauces (soy and spicy sambal) and Crispy Pork Meatballs also with dipping sauce. Everything was delicious including the dipping sauces. The sambal sauce was very nice and not very spicy. The meatballs were wrapped in linguini and deep fried which made them crispy. The next round consisted of Steak Florence, Fathead Chicken, Wu Chow Shrimp and Fried Scallops. The Steak Florence was served with a blueberry Chianti sauce. That was a great combination, blueberries and steak. The Fathead Chicken was “slathered with a honey drizzle- unbelievably great. The other two dishes, one shrimp and one scallop, were for the seafood lovers and satisfied that hankering. The accompanying dipping sauces were excellent especially the Tabasco garlic dipping sauce which we used for both seafood dishes. The last and final round consisted of the Tuscan Bruschetta, Garlic Shrimp and Mongolian Beef. The picture of the Garlic Shrimp does not do it justice because it is covered up by the bread. But the shrimp is being bathed in a garlic butter sauce and the bread is for soaking up all that delicious blend. We save room for two desserts and both very interesting and fun. The great thing about Dev’s is the great service and all those delicious dishes; shrimp, scallops, beef, chicken, pork, dipping sauces, signature drinks and desserts, can be experienced in one sitting. There is no better value in dining than that. I highly recommend this restaurant for great dining. Just be advised that if there is a show at the Niantic Playhouse down the street, then it might be advisable to plan your reservation time accordingly."
