Bird Dog BBQ

"They say if you want the best food, don't go to a chain. Find a hole in the wall joint and you'll eat like a king. Bird Dog BBQ is exactly that. A small barbecue roadside restaurant on an unassuming road. The dry rubbed ribs were tender and delicious. The brisket, excellent. Pulled pork out of 5. Burnt ends... if you don't order anything else.... get the damn burnt ends. You'll thank me later. One super cool feature is the variety of sauces they have available. Each with a very different characteristic than the next. I'll be back. Like.... alot."

"Me and the wife stopped in for dinner 2 weeks ago and very much enjoyed it. The brisket was good and so were the ribs. The sauces were great. The service was also great! Now they did have a lil hiccup here and there..yes... but hey they just opened. We will definitely be back and it's great to have another bbq place close to home."

"We are frequent visitors of craft kitchen so when we heard about bird dog opening we had to try it and it did not disappoint! The staff was very kind and helpful and the food came out hot and in a timely manner. The cornbread was fresh and moist, the pulled pork was not fatty and had great flavor, the mac and cheese was very cheesy and creamy (and a good size portion for a side) and the corn casserole was delicious (and again, a very generous portion for a side). We had a party of 5 and all of us thoroughly enjoyed each of our meals and are excited to come back again soon."

"Food was delicious, service was great! The only 1 minor complaint is they call it chicken and dumpling soup but I did not have 1 dumpling in mine. It was a very good chicken soup though. Carolina mustard was my favorite sauce. Would love to see an Alabama White BBQ sauce someday."

"So, first time at Bird Dog. Got dinner take-out for the wife and I. All told, 5 star experience. Food wasn’t perfect, but they have only been open a week so they get a pass for what wasn’t perfect….however, damn good BBQ. Wife started with the chicken dumpling soup. This was the only disappointment of the meal. No dumplings. Decent soup but wifey was expecting dumplings. I had the two-meat platter with burnt ends and jalapeño cheddar sausage, Cowboy rice and beans, and coleslaw. The burnt ends were outstanding. Very moist, good smoke flavor, just top tier. Jalapeño cheddar sausage was good. Would have liked a bit more cheddar in there but still delicious. Rice and beans were not hot but still very good and coleslaw was solid. Wifey had the half chicken platter w/ Mac & cheese and Mexican street corn. Chicken was juicy and delicious, Mac & cheese and street corn were outstanding. Wife thinks the sauce on street corn should be a side sauce it was so good. Very enjoyable. Cornbread was moist and delicious. Solid. Got a couple of sauces that were good. I loved the mustard sauce but the standout was the chipotle root beer sauce…I mean, I didn’t know what to do with it. It was amazing but I didn’t think it matched with burnt ends of my sausage. Definitely better with ribs, chicken or pulled pork. Wife absolutely loved it. Very unique and it works. Service was great, food took a bit of time but I did order at counter. Bird Dog is the creation of Chef Mike Truss who is already a town favorite with Craft Kitchen (also amazing!). Looks like we found our new go to BBQ! Highly recommend!"
